Heat One Nominations: I Vote For...

ok, the nominations are in. In excess of 200 different acts were nominated, i've just spent about 3 hours 'five-bar-gating' the nominations to compile the final list and pull out the top 36. In instances where people named more than 10 or included more than one act in a single vote, i took the first 10 in each instance (seemed fairest). If someone has had a solo career - for example a Beatle - I've counted them separately. If someone hasn't - for instance, Johnny Borrel - I've counted him as a vote for his band. Again, seemed fairest.

I used the suggested seeding system (most votes in column one, 2nd in column 2, 3 in column 3 and back the other way, so 4th most in column 3 again) etc...

Each heat will be up for 48 hours (this is controlled by the poll settings) - this one will close at midnight on Tuesday

So.. off we go :)

(oh, and for the record the actual top ten by votes cast was

  1. U2
  2. Oasis
  3. Red Hot Chili Peppers
  4. Phil Collins
  5. Simply Red
  6. Coldplay.
  7. James Blunt
  8. Beatles
  9. Mariah Carey
  10. westlife

with only U2 and Oasis earning more than 20 nominations and only U2 with more than 30. I'm very proud of you all :)

it was time-consuming and pointless but it has in some strange way both made me happy and made me feel like i've introduced some much needed order into the realm of vehement hatred :)
 
most of the people in this poll are incredibly rich and so maybe by some strange chance the vibes of disgust sent by urbanites might waft over to where ever they are sitting smugly with a glass of fine wine looking out over their giant garden and knock them off their chair, with their haughty face landing in fresh poodle shit
 
My vote rhymes with a rude word, which is fitting I think.

His name should be entered into the Modern Revised Cockney Parlance Dictionary. If there was any justice in this world.

I posted a thread about him some time ago now, I wonder if it still exists?

Christ, I had a list of about 50 in the other thread, which is why I didn't post. Maybe I need to channel my hatred, and focus it somewhere.

Still can't decide on this one though. So many of them need to be shot in the head. Or at least have all their music destroyed. And the damage they've inflicted on my ears somehow fixed.

I'm not involved in the industry anymore, but it's not hard to track down an email address for a management company - Paul McGuinness for U2, people like that. In fact, for the bigger bands I can probably work out who does their press still

fuck..that was a hard choice..In fact it was the Poll Of Death. U2, REM and The Smiths all in one though Celine, Cliff etc don't bother me as they're not really part of my world.
 
that's cos the music industry foists so many wankspuds on us..even the indie labels, hence that cunt Morrisssey

I could kill 'em all in the face before breakfast. In the end I went for U2 cos they've pissed me off for longest, and are the most likely to continue to do so (that rooftop performance :eek: :eek: )

Snap. I was having *such* a hard time deciding, until I saw the last option. Then it was easy. U2 are so going to walk this, and that will make me happy, cos in Ireland I am one of a very small band of U2 haterz.:mad:
 
Close thing but I had to vote for The Smiths in the end cos I actually got dragged along to one of their gigs by the then girlfriend and had to endure the spectacle of a thousand miserable students wailing and throwing flowers at the stage, that ghastly vision was scarred into my hatred cortex and will accompany me to the grave.

fraid that's the way the seeding worked out. presumably the other two heats will be just as bad. I wanted to let everyone have three votes but you can't, it's one or 'multiple' and the latter would be a mess
 
It's got to be U2, but it was almost Coldplay (even though they weren't in my top ten, somehow I forgot them, they're that dull).
 
Oh well done! It's good to see so much dedication to pointless activity :D

Tough one this, I had to read through calmly and see what provoked the worst reaction in me, and the Smiths won. It was a very close call between them and U2 though!
 
Good work :)

Difficult choice - Coldplay, U2 and James Blunt produce a violent rage in me but there can be only one winner. Celine feckin Dion :mad: :mad: :mad:
