somebosy mentioned (your love keeps on liftin' me) higher and higher didn't they? cos that does it for me.
.

:)

Every time I hear it I try and try to sing the high bits and fail but don't care because I'm too busy with my feet.

i hate ELO with a passion but i love that song.
I don't think I have ever heard any other songs of theirs.

Hating ELO seems to be fairly widespread, so presumably all their other songs are really bad.

Move On Up - always wins
Northern Lights - SFA
Queen Bitch - David Bowie
Mr Richard Smoker - Ween
Heatwave - Martha and the Vandellas
So You Wanna Be A Rock 'N Roll Star - The Byrds
One More Ride - Johnny Cash
Easy Snappin' - Theo Beckford
MCC vs West Indies - Egbert Moore

An eclectic top 10 of feel good sounds:

Super Furries - Northern Lights
Foo Fighters - Learn To Fly
Killers - Mr Brightside
Jackie Wilson - Sweetest Feeling
Smiths - The Boy With The Thorn In His Side
New Order - Regret
Earth Wind & Fire - Boogie Wonderland
Neil Diamond - Sweet Caroline
Franz Ferdinand - Take me Out
The Pixies - Here Comes Your Man

While we have the doobie brothers lp on, skip forward a couple of tracks to Sweet Home Alabama for cheesy feel good favourites.

Terry Callier: Ordinary Joe
Dusty Springfield: Love Power
Bloc Party: So here we are
cybele's revelry: stereolab
British Sea Power: Please Stand up
Dobie Gray: Out on the Floor
Outkast: Hey Ya

:)

and yes! to Jackie Wilson

Don't stop me now - Queen
is the song most garunteed to make me damage myself through over-exertion if it gets played at prod.

Two nominations entirely because they are among the two most irritating uplifting songs ever and have previously been the subject of angry denunciation on these boards:

Come on Eileen - Dexys
Whole of the Moon - Waterboys

(dives out of window)

there is some rough shit in here, no question.

i find underground resistance incredibly uplifting - jupiter jazz, inspiration, final frontier, etc...

plus - pretty much anything by rotary connection, and minnie riperton; the 5th dimension; marlena shaw's california soul; aretha franklin's the weight... and loads of motown stuff.

urg, everyone else's definition of "uplifting" is my defintiion of "shit"
I'm picturing you now.... single room... curtains drawn in the day time. Perpetual smell of damp. Ashtrays full, fridge is empty

:p

what's the one about putting a message in a box putting the box in a car and driving the car around the world? - that always gets me going :)
