Judging by the colour some kind of mahogany... The family covers quite a few trees, the classic mahoganies you see in stately homes/a lot of antique American furniture aren't available anymore, but there are some more common varieties like Utile or Sapele that are used widely. The lighter bits in the center of the top rail show it could be stained though, but it's very hard to tell from a photo.
