Unusual and/or interesting creative courses

London_Calling

Pleasant and unpatronising
It's struck me that I don't suit 'evening' evening courses - that is, stretching out over an academic year. The length and pace just doesn't doesn't fit my rhythm.

These do though: Writing and Journalism Courses - 10 week jobbies, not starting until September though:

Creative Writing

* An Approach to Creative Writing
* Certificate in Novel Writing
* Certificate in Short Story Writing
* Creative Writing
* Intermediate Fiction Writing
* Narrative Non-Fiction
* Novel Writing and Longer Works
* Screenwriting
* Short Story Writing
* Towards Publication
* Writers’ Workshop
* Writing about Travel
* Writing for Children
* Writing for Children - workshop
* Writing for the Theatre
* Writing Poetry – advanced
* Writing Poetry – beginners and intermediate

Journalism and Media

* Cartoonists Workshop
* Comic Strip and Cartoon Art
* Feature Writing
* Food and Drink Journalism
* Introduction to Journalism
* News Writing
* Writing Comedy
* Writing Freelance Articles
* Writing Situation Comedy

Underlined the ones that stand out for me. D'you know any creative courses of a similar (a) length and (b) creative focus?

I don't know about any other courses, but I do think the ones you listed look interesting.

hth:)

And one of those places has information about a summer course if you'd rather get cracking before September/October, although I didn't check out the days or hours of the classes.

Depending on your field of interest, Oxford Uni, Exeter, & the likes run online distance learning short modules on Art History, such as Islamic art and its historic influence, renaissance, photography, creative writing, drawing, philosophy etc. An average of a few months for each. The modules can be taken individually and contribute (if you want) towards a degree eventually through CATS type agreements (Credit Accumulated Transfer Schemes). No need to ever get up early for lectures..

Ooh, cheers for that wanizame.

I quite like the look of the Islamic Art and Architecture, and also the New Economic Powers courses offered by Oxford.

I can't find the relevant section on the Essex website though, a module search comes up blank.
