University timetables-fucking useless

The fuckers put my end-of-2nd-year exams on the Wednesday of Glastonbury in 1999, so I didn't turn up :p

What sort of braindead moron puts a student down for a single hour of lectures a day and expects them to attend? Let's be realistic here, that's not likely to result in a full lecture theatre. However it gets worse, what sort of complete mental pygmy does that for two days a week, putting one of them in the 9-10 slot and the other in the 5-6?

A braindead moron/former academic timetabler writes...it's one of the worst, totally thankless jobs I've ever had and it nearly sent me mental. I'd like to see you manage the demands of everyone! And how is your timetabler supposed to know that poor old bob_the_lost will only in for a single hour of lectures per day - we don't get class registers of all the attendee you know

Its not the odd lectures here and there that annoy me that much, they are a minor iritation its my Tuesday in which I have all day in Electronics practical with an hour sceduled for labs, and some fucker puts a programming pratical in it, now considering eating in any of the labs will probably get me kicked out of the sesion how am I meant to eat?

Two days in one week where i'll spend more time in lectures than i will commuting.

[/rant]

That's normal isn't it?

Are you annoyed that your lectures are longet than a half hour or something?

Thought that's why people went to uni, not for the commute!

Just got my timetable today. Four hours on Thursdays, two hours on Friday. Five day weekend, woop!

Er... now to stay motivated...

They have now decided that my course has two compulsory modules. Ebuisness and Buisness strategy.

Computing science.
Business.
Computing science.
Business.

I could do them, probably end up with ok grades at the end, but i don't want to. They're not what i signed up for and they're not what interests me. I'd have to drop two real subjects because, according to the department staff, they don't like the idea of students "overloading their timetables"...

Grrrr.

Edit: Whichever urb it is that happens to both read this thread and write my timetables, i'm very sorry, please don't hurt me anymore.

I have two major gripes:

Jeez, do you want some cake with that whine? Imagine arranging lectures and seminars to please thousands of students on hundreds of courses. As a part time student working full time and travelling in long distance, I couldn't guarantee lectures and seminars on the same day. Perhaps all those professors should come and teach you in the comfort of your bedroom. No wonder everyone hates students; you'll last about five muinutes in the world of work. Perhaps you should sue for compensation for all the stress of attending the lectures you willingly signed up for.

Christ next semester I have to help run practicals which half the lazy bastards can't be arsed turning up to until 15 minutes after the start time. Spend half an hour in the canteen when I am waiting for them to finish up so I can go home.

The next semester involves awful field work, where I will get up at the crack of dawn and then have to wait for a student who thinks its beneath them to get up in the morning. Then spend a week dealing with the puking and pissed spoilt brats

Has the phrase "you don't even know you're born" been posted here yet.
No, but the phrases "braindead moron" and "mental pigmy" have, in the opening post.

In the old days less than 10% went to university, unless you were very bright or very wealthy you would have worked in a factory or a shop. Kids today, you don't even know you're born.
