Union member I am representing gives me a jumper....

But, in more than 20 years of representing people, I have never been given a jumper :)
Maybe your clients recognise you've already got outstanding dress sense? ;)

Oh :D

Oh :D

I know, it's a nuisance when someone bumps a thread, particularly when they completely move on from the original post, and thereby allow lots of fun misunderstandings - like donating a body to a charity shop :D

What happened to the jumper is what we really need to know? I must have closure!

I accepted it. I wore the jumper out to a hearing (Tribunal type thingy). On the way home a bloke on the train called me a train spotter. I've not worn it since.

How much are you paid by the union for your skills. Do you have a special Self-employed deal? That sort of shit.

That is none of your business and neither is it relevant to whether or not Groucho has scored! :D

Yes it fucking is. It's directly relevent. And so it shall be.

*shoo*

Okay, I will bite. What is the relevance of my salary to whether or not Groucho should go on a date with the woman mentioned in the thread?

You do know what "shoo" means, don't you? It means go away. You can't expect me to answer a question, and tell me to go away :D

It means many things dependent on context of course. Is that too complicated?

What is the relavence - the relevance is that you're an overpaid union full timer scum -and pompously happy wirh it.

Ps: we are coming for you.

Why don't you just fuck off back to the hole you crawled out of?

It's not your union. See the arrogance. Cleft for me oh mighty union. Show me the real face.

Well played though G2. You did exactly what i wanted. The sheer fucking arrogance.

Why is that arrogant? By "my union", I mean the union of which I am a member. Or perhaps I mean the union for which I work? Who knows?

But it is not arrogant. You know very well that it's a commonly used phrase.

And you are just trying to bait me, and I am bored now, so, fuck off, eh?

I am off, too!

Byeeee :D

Of course, that's what you meant, That's what people like you always mean. I'm convinced of that. You have only the members best wishes at heart.

It is arrogant. Quick go back to the conference facility. You might catch something.

You really don't like the little people daring to talk back to you do you? This is excellent.

I was a union rep in a past life. You do not get paid for it. You do it because there is no one else who will and you want the union to have a voice at work. I was never ever offered a gift but was always ready to ask someone for whom I had worked and got a result - which does happen, to help me run a meeting or cajole people to attend one or take minutes. If you help people they are positive about the union and also recruit others. It might seem strange but when you have a dispute and take action the feeling of solidarity increases and union members become more involved.

The hard bit is when you want to stand down after a few years and need to get someone else whom you trust to take over. It has to be done though when you leave.

Maybe that is what happened in the Labour Party really. There was nobody of real conviction to take over.

Anyway, trying not to disregard the relevant issues...

Is she hot?

I haven't taken her temperature - I'm not a Dr, I'm a union rep

She's a fair bit younger than me. It's a dillemna for more than one reason. I think it is generally not a good idea to get involved with people you are representing. Once a case is over there is still the problem that the relationship to date has not been social or normal but representative and represented.

Hocus Eye - we've been building a good team at my place. If I died tonight the union branch would still function perfectly well. But I agree, often people we help turn up to meetings, rallies and so forth, even become reps on occassions.

I wonder if Butchers' really thinks he comes off looking good off his interventions in threads like this. :D
