Unidentifiable work buffet food

our buffets at school are always fried finger foods, and nine dishes out of ten are spicy - i can't eat spicy food.

so at the working lunch last friday we had:

onion bhajis
samosas
chilli fried chicken wings
curried spring rolls
oh, and teeny, bullet-hard sausage rolls.

no stop - you're spoiling us...

They actually give us school lunches on INSET days... our current caterers have been banned from submitting a tender for next year because the food is so bad... I mean truely, truely horrendous!

One of the catering companies we use do advocado, ham and chicken- it looks well dodge on the platter but tastes delicious;)

That would be alright (except I don't eat ham). But this was clearly leftovers from breakfast. It wouldn't have been so vile if it hadn't had salad in it too. Rubbery scrambled eggs - yeuck :(

Slightly off topic but our canteen stops serving food at 1.15pm - you can't even get a sandwich.

That's absurd.

Our uni cafe was a bit random. It was just a little room in the basement of the building and a couple of old dears ran it. They didn't really have official opening times and it was hit and miss whether they were there or not.

A cheese sandwich was just a huge thick slice of cheese between 2 bits of bread. Half the time there wasn't even any margarine on it.
The drinks were often warm because they hadn't filled the fridge up.

The pub next door did a roaring trade in cheesy chips as a result. :)

we even had sushi buffet at a restaurant
lots veg options too of cos.
it was really nice i was surprised.

And watery, flavourless, shredded iceberg lettuce at that, and woody-centred pale orange tomato-shaped bullets, which somehow combine rock-hardness and sloppy runniness all in one strange and mutant quasi-plant-based package.

Pub lunches are bad for this kind of thing, too.

the pub near my work isn't that bad actually.
they do vegetable tempura, fried onion and all.
with sweet sauce.
they're pretty good.
had some last night in fact.

another place, another rubbish buffet lunch  I just don't get how its so hard to do a buffet ffs

I have been to a few work buffets some have been atrocious and others such as the hot curry buffet inspiring. The in house buffet makers had been the worst offenders but since I work in health care I think someone had a quiet word so when the rare event comes along for a work buffet there is raw veg crudites, dips, tasty veggie wraps, salads and fruit and tasty orange juice. Prior to this it was ham and marg sandwhiches on white bread or coleslaw for the veggies with rock hard tiny onion bahjis and samosas.

Off topic...a few years back a local hospital built a brand new heart and lung centre and reduced the opening times of the largest staff restuarant. In the area of the heart and lung place they put a Greggs the bakers... I just don't get the logic in that at all...

I'll package you one up and send it down :D the journey won't make it worse thats for sure :D
