Unforgivable endings

Switchblade Romance/Haute Tension. Even allowing for it only being a fairly middling slasher film to start with the 'twist' is just staggering in its shiteness.

heh - I remember waxing lyrical about that on these very boards some time ago.

I like the film on the whole, but the twist sucked balls.

Oh yes - it was here.

And no-one cared.

There were at least five threads on this film. I think your one was the first, but people can't be bothered to do a search.

Yeah, the ending was shit, completely ruined the film for me. There recently was another French horror film called Ils aka Them which was similar, but without a crap plot twist. I much preferred it to Haute Tension/Switchblade Romance.

What's the ending then? Put it in a spoiler if you like. I'm never going to watch the film as am not hardcore enough, but my interest has been mildly piqued by this thread :)

Sounds a bit like "Identity"

I have to confess I do quite like twists like that... although they are getting a bit obvious these days.

Still, I defy anyone to pre-guess the twist for Agatha christie's "Murder of Roger Ackroyd" which was amazingly innovative for its day, but probably a bit obvious these days.

Usual Suspects
LA Confidential
Fight Club
The Shawshank Redemption
The Truman Show

Usual Suspects
has the best ending ever - the realisation that you, Keaton and the crew, and Kujan have ALL been led up the garden path by the devil himself...and then the 2nd time you watch it and realise that the answer was there from the start when the camera follows Verbal/Soze tracking over the message board, the picture of the barbershop
quartet, 'orca fat' girl, the picture of Guatemala
...far from being tied up in complexity and going for an easy way out...(BTW, don't think spoiler tags are necessary for a 10 year old film, but you know how some people are around here...

LA Confidential...it's alright, nothing to set the world on fire...I wanna see American Tabloid tho...

The rest...well Shawshank getting any other ending would be contrary to the themes and spirit of the story really wouldn't it? See the word 'Redemption' in the title?
That's what Red gets by following the road to see Defrense
