I have seen orbital before and was completely underwhelmed by them.
I've seem them twice and can't understand the fuss about them to be honest. :confused: The only time my ears picked up is when they starting mixing some Bon Jovi into one of their songs the rest of their stuff put me to sleep.

Me too, Underworld simply piss all over Orbital live. Sorry but whilst Orbital have a fond place in my heart and some amazing tunes (Chime, Belfast, Halycon to name just a few) they are just nowhere NEAR Underworld's full on amazing shows.

I'm with bees on this. Underworld are the nuts! I have my ticket for the Roundhouse booked and I am well up for it :cool:

I really like orbital, just thought they were very dull live.

Where did you see them?

What drugs were you on?

They are really meant to be listened to under the stars on a pleasant summers night.

I agree with beesonthewhatnow. Not that Orbital aren't awesome love, but when I've seem Underworld they've absolutely kicked it.

Underworld are like coffee table rave for Floyd fans.

^^^ what Dub said

best live electronica/'rave' band ever i think.

although i didn't think much of mateys new stuff when i saw him at the Big Chill

chillout music?

have you fucking heard Satan?
One track. And even Satan isn't very danceable.

Which is my point - Orbital were great live, but in a nod your head, tap your foot and enjoy the noises kind of way.

Whereas Underworld get everyone leaping around like loons :cool:

Indeed - Underworld make dance music, Orbital inspire a bit of hand in the air wavery but that's about it.

Indeed, even Satan isn't that danceable. Orbital are too much about twiddly knob fiddlery and using 'interesting' samples - albeit good ones - just underworld manage to pull it off with full on fist in the air beautiful banging music.

Simple test - go watch the Orbital live at glasto DVD and then watch Everything Everything in glorious 5.1. Underworld simply outperform every other 'dance act' on the planet. End of.

i've seen underworld live twice - both at glastonbury. the first time (headlining the second stage on a really muddy year - 1998?) they were fucking amazing. the second time, they were tedious.

orbital were somewhere inbetween on the only occasion i've seen em...

I've seen both bands loads of times (including both of them playing on the same line-up at some old megadog type thing along with Aphex Twin <smug>). They were both great. Sometimes I preferred Orbital, sometimes I preferred Underworld.

Which is all a bit fence sitting and too boring an answer, so...

It's obviously Orbital and any of yous cunts wot finks it's Underworld - I'll fight ya :mad:

Orbital = Arty
Underworld = Party

ooh I say! that is succinct. hats off to you!

as for this
Underworld are like coffee table rave for Floyd fans.

this is a favourite argument of Dub's (Underworld V Orbital) and, much as I love Orbital and hate Pink Floyd they really do have a lot more in common with them than Underworld do.

Orbital were a really important and beloved band for me and I saw them more
times than I can remember - they were always great.

I saw Underworld just twice and they rock like bastards.

I saw Orbital play in the funnel of an abandoned power station in Amsterdam.
They sold mushrooms at the venue, and the night blew my mind.:cool:

Never saw Underworld live, I did download Dunnobass the other day and it hasn't aged that well.... Rez was great though.
