Well yeah this is true at least.

Wait, what?? But you're a woman! Not that I have a problem with that of course, just that this was turning out to be a schoolboy trainspotter bobble-hat-and-flask-of-weak-lemon-drink type of day.

Hocus Eye. Snap, crop, scrap crap

I am still interested. Can we collectively sort out a date?

I told Roadkill about this at the weekend. He's as 'not interested' as the rest of us on this thread. I am also definitely 'not coming' and 'not lending' my story of the London Underground book to pfft.

I am possibly being a bit over ambitious about this. Maybe I should just stick to Holden. Or do more than one tour. Or one tour lasting a week.

    me too.
I'd be well up for this if I lived in London.

Set a date then pfft (when you know your shifts), so you have deadline motivation.
    Would 6 stations be doable?

You should totally come anyway pigsy.

I think so. The problem is that a lot of Holden's best work is at the extremities (Piccadilly & Northern Line extensions to the north and to the south respectively).

Got some sort of itinerary in mind. Might have to do a dry run to see whether it's stupidly long.

    6th November maybe.

Just stating a fact there, obviously.

Of course I'd like you to come too. that goes without saying.

I doubt I'll be able to make it but will see when you decide what day you are going on.

I'm away Nov 6th, but if that's the convenient date for everyone, I'll have to give it a miss. Off for a long weekend in Rye with Wry.

Might be up for this, busy on morning of 6th. Seeing the exhibition this Sunday.

I grew up with my local station being one of Holden's greats:

Fantastic picture. It's like it's spinning, like a merry-go-round, or a top. Or, because a few of the lights are out, the mothership on Close Encounters.

edit: There's a free tour of the Senate House (also by Holden) coming up that I might try and get on.

I never realised Southgate commanded such admiration! It has oddly been a bit of a hub for my life, as it was where I changed buses on the way home from school, I went to college just down the road and I worked in the Blockbuster on the corner.

That's all I came here to say, I'm not actually interested in this geekathon.

It is possible to spend the best part of a day on just the stations on the 1933 Piccadilly Line extension to Cockfosters.

Mind you, I haven't done it exactly like that since 1986... :)

I stumbled across a closed Leslie Green station today. Brompton Road (Piccadilly line). Only one elevation remaining but so obviously his work.

And going past Hyde Park Corner on the bus, it looks like they're building over the fa├žade of the old station building. Bastards.

Are people still interested in this?

I've been doing research visits yet, surprisingly, not been arrested by an over-zealous BTP PCSO wondering what I'm doing lurking around at tube stations.

I did chat to a vicar from Oakwood while at Southgate today - he thought I looked a bit lost. Not sure whether he meant spiritually. But anyway we had a nice chat about Holden.
