Uncut Top150 Albums Of The Century So Far

It's not about the singing or the front man. I don't read NME. Anyway, point is.... it's a good tune. Might not be PROPER dance music but imho it's a good tune.

The piano is superb and i like the scattered vibe...

yep, that was a pleasant surprise :)

too much fucking Ryan Adams though

I used to write for that mag and fell out with them over whether an Adams record (it was either Heartbreaker or Gold) deserved two stars or five.

Someone said to me the other day that Gold was the best album ever. I initially LOL-ed them but then said that they had a point as Gold rips off some of the best albums ever, so the guy had a valid point in a way.

I'll be interested to see Q's decade list come the end of the year. I'll go out on a limb here and say it'll mostly be guitar-based, with a token hip hop album thrown in (Kanye's debut I'm guessing). ;)

can't be arsed to type out the whole 150, but the top 20 is

20. Amy Winehouse - Back To Black
19. Bruce Springsteen - The Rising
18. Kate Bush - Aerial
17. White Stripes - Elephant
16. LCD Soundsystem - Sound of Silver
15. Radiohead - In Rainbows
14. Primal Scream - XTRMNTR
13. Gillian Welch - Time (The Revelator)
12. Portishead - Third
11. Flaming Lips - Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots
10. Fleet Foxes - Fleet Foxes
9. Ryan Adams - Heartbreaker
8. Bob Dylan - Modern Times
7. Arcade Fire - Funeral
6. Plant & Krauss - Raising Sand
5. Strokes - Is This It?
4. Brian Wilson - Smile
3. Wilco - A Ghost Is Born
2. Bob Dylan - Love & Theft
1. White Stripes - White Blood Cells.

Not a TERRIBLE list, but a bit MOR. And 2 recent Dylan albums? Sheesh...

So, Dylan still "rules" eh?

fwiw, i love lcd soundsystem, but think the song linked to above is a bit rubbish.

don't think i'd ever buy a record by 'em, but they're a superb live band.

oh, and that list is proper shit.

heh! you need to be more discriminating though:p

i really don't. And I never claimed LCD Soundsystem was dance music. If anything, the last album was more like New Order or something.

You're comparing it to some purist dance paradigm and finding it guilty of not being something it never claimed to be

fuck yeah! as i said, i have exquisite taste in music. you're just too blind to see it. maybe that's a good thing though, cos if you did see how amazing my taste is, you'd fall at my feet and worship me.
