Demonoid's description:

A young man meets and falls in love with a young woman at the La Brea Tar Pits in Los Angeles. This area is known as Miracle Mile, and the whole movie takes place there. They make a date, which he misses, and while he is searching for her, he accidentally finds out that we (the United States) are about to start a nuclear war with the Soviet Union. He frantically searches for her so that they can escape Los Angeles.

:)
Ah.

Can't remember whether I've seen it or not.

What's it about?

It starts as a romantic comedy and then takes a sharp left turn into apocalyptic thriller. A clever screenplay, based on a domino effect of escalating disaster , a great soundtrack by Tangerine Dream, typically blueish night cinematography of the period and all the horrendous 80's fashions you could wish for (Mare Winninghams outfits  ) I think Miracle Mile is one of the most underrated films of the 80's.

Could the Golden Child fit into such a collection? Or is that way too comedy? Always had a soft spot for that film, even though most people said it was crap.

Predator?

Quote central that one -

"You're bleeding man" "I ain't got time to bleed."

"The only way outta here is that valley that leads to the east. But I wouldn't wish that on a broke-dick dog."

I coudl go on...:)

You are correct that it is a good film. ( I will fight anyone that tries to argue otherwise)

Unfortunately it doesn't quite fit into the criteria - way too comedy as you said.

Razorback

Great Ozzie monster movie that mixes Jaws-on-land thrills(rampaging Outback killer pig) with a Texas Chainsaw Massacre type of film.

That's not the one directed by the bloke who did the Duran Duran videos?

Yes. The only good film he ever made. (don't get me started on Highlander)

Freejack?

Fuck off!

Even if it was in the 80' (which it isn't), The thread title isn't: "Please list a bunch of dogshit movies".

There may be a very fine line between 80's excellence and cheesy bollocks, but a line there is, and thou shalt not cross it in my thread.

Away with your sub-Christopher Lambert shite.
