Ukraine v England - internet stream only

No the BBC should spend all our licence money on showing Newcastle matches...
I don't know whether I want a *nodding sagely* smilie or a *nodding furiously* smilie, but I sure know I want one with it's head going up and down in a traditional symbol of agreement.

What? And if you pay a subscription to Sky you're a double cunt?

TBH, I'm not vastly opposed in principle. A pay as you watch scheme could be ok, especially if it puts any pressure on Sky - their dominant position and subscriber model isn't healthy for the game either.

Clearly this is an Intl game and should be on terrestrial anyhow.

I broadly agree with this. The cost of sky for one or two interesting games a month is crazy. I'd much much rather just be able to pay 5 quid on a one off basis with no contractural obligation or subscription, for a top notch stream which is as good quality as telly anyway.

I think one of the main issues is showing it in pubs, I think that's what's got most people rankled.

I would say that it would also be unfair on people who don't have net access at home (such as me) but then the same could be said for those who don't have Sky (such as me).

But yeah, in principle it's not inherently an awful idea. I think :hmm:

Re, the iraq goals thing, I reckon that will probably not be an option for this.

dont see why not. Will probably be a bit more delay then normal but see no reason why it can't be done/

Unless its encrypted weirdly or something but considering there will be Ukrainian sources i really don't see it being hard to get hold of.

The people who bought it by the way are premium tv who run most football clubs websites and do all the virgin media streaming type stuff, so they should know what they are doing.

dave

So basically there's no way of watching this in the pub?

Wankers.
Who do you think are wankers?
Spread the word. If you pay to watch this game on the net, you're a c**t. Let this fall on its face.
The cunts are the people who started all this by subscribing to SKY and setting the ball rolling.

They ain't even offering it to anyone who wants it....

They offered it to the usual suspects no one was prepared to pay the £2million asking price.

exactly. but none of the newspapers want to print the names of our usual favourites* because they want to be in the internet streaming game themselves at some point.

gx

All the dailies are linking to this game, so they are all maiing money from this already.

Innit!:D

Good points being made on the radio today that the Engalnd squad could have chipped in £100k a man and given it to the beeb-or atleast sold it to them cheap. Players wouldn't have missed a weeks wages, country thinks they're brilliant, win win.

Dont think thats actually true. I think that Premium TV dont actually own the rights, but are just facilitating the streaming as they have the know how, for the rights owners, who are merely the agents of the Ukrainian FA.

they also own the website and domain, where as they don't own the whufc.com domian(which they also run) but either way my vague point was that it should be done well as they know what they are doing.

dave

here's a few more - there are tons

http://www.ustream.tv/discovery/live/sports

http://www.justin.tv/directory/sports

http://www.ppnba.com/english.html

when people have found a decent stream im sure they will be kind enough to inform the people on here.

I predict mine will be on sopcast by Yes or possibly in romanian but with sweet picture quality.

dave

www.myp2p.eu is all you need ;)

Either that, or create a bet365 account, deposit a tenner stick it all on England -1AH and get paid nearly £50 to watch the match. Bingo :D

dave

I just mean that all the Justin/Iraq Goals type channels are way too blatant. They'll get shut down for the night (the specific channel)

bet365 are matching first bets on your account at the minute i think.

So you can bet £10 to ukraine winning and £10 on england winning and cry when they draw!:D

But there is no way in hell i'm paying bet 365 money(alsoran/whatever by premium tv) money to watch a football game. That seems crazy.

Your also helping shit football win if you go through bet 365 as the owner is the stoke chiarman!

no chance. That isn't how the internet works!!!

Especially if they are based in anywhere even vaguely sensible(by which i mean in a country that doesn't take copyright fraud very seriously), and they will be, then no one can touch them.

dave

I concur :hmm:

Speaking of, an appeal hereby goes out to anyone who knows how to hook up a laptop/PC to screen through a TV. What's needed, and what do you do with it?

if your laptop has a hdmi lead output use a hdmi lead to connect to the telly. you may need to fiddle around with the screen set up on your laptop. failing that the monitor output on your pc will also do the same job, using a monitor cable obv.

of course, both options depend on you having a newish telly with the correct plugs to accept aforementioned leads.

yeah, imagine, paying a company money to watch a football match that discounts a large amount of normal fans from being able to watch, what a crazy fucked up idea

well obviously paying sky/virgin isn't much better but at least its not paying a gambling company, that seems worse somehow.

sky do it to make money this seems like a ploy to get lots of people to gamble, which makes bet365 money. Seems dishonest.

dave

How come so many streams get taken down 'on request of the copyright holder' soon after kickoff, then?

really? never had that happen to me before.

Is that justin.tv mainly? I dont really trust them.

Had a loo around apparently justin.tv had to cur a deal with fox so its probabley something to do with that. FSC own a lot of the US rights to prem games.

Maybe, but have a look at how many Premiership teams are sponsored by the like. they ahve obviously identified an audience and are willing to pump in the pounds to get their players. Which in turn gives the clubs more money, so is it that bad? Is it worse than being sponsored by an airline or a printer ink company?

I cant find the info at the moment, but I *think* about 9 of the Premiership teams have gaming/sportsbook operators as sponsors

No way im going to have it, the only way i will watch it is on a dodgy site or if one of the local pubs get their dodgy dishes pointing the right way.
