UK Police State

He is - he's got a rep as a 'hard man' in politician, and comes from that fine authoritarian position of British politics. Thing is he's not actually saying anything new here - anti-social neighbours has been an ongoing issue in the UK for about the last 10 years or so, only until recently the threat of eviction was limited to those in state housing, with private disputes (for example, over Leylandii trees) going through the usual routes of the courts.

Thing is fela, as someone who hasn't been in the UK for however long, noisy neighbours has become a serious problem - increased housing densities, lax building regs on sound insulation etc mean that for some people the activities of their neighbours is having a significant impact on the quality of their lives.

He is barmy tho.:D

I do get back there about every other year you know mate! And don't i know how noisy neighbours can ruin one's peace of mind. What i get here dwarfs the uk version of noise...

My reaction though was reid's comment that justice could be better served by him than the courts.

It's funny, but it's also to me a sad indictment on what i see britain turning into. The fact that he can say that even, and not have it challenged says too much for me.

Taking your comments more seriously tho, that's always gonna be a problem wherever humans conglomerate in today's age, what with all this technology.

Still if reid evicts enough noisy neighbours, then they'll all be on the street making their noise. Where's he gonna send them then?? Into the ocean???

Fucking mad man.

Challenged by whom exactly? Other politicians? The press? Both have been vocal in their comments on Reid generally and in response to this, as well as Brown's comments on extending the 28 day detention period, the current issues surrounding civil liberties (which even the Tory press in the form of the Telegraph and Mail are starting to wake up to the issues presented now)...funny thing was when Brown mentioned 'changing' the laws regarding incitement to racial violence, Reid responded by being *(marginally) more moderate
