i was gutted for couture and i am not sure if lesner is good for the sport of mma, he seems to be a bit of a throwback to the days of the massive brawlers, i know he is a champion wrestler, but he seems to just throw haymakers or rush his opponent to the ground and then ground and pound

i'm sure lesner will cope with the ground game stuff to be honest. hes an ncaa champion so his submition stuff shouldnt be too bad once he remmebers to against the grain rather then with like his last wrestling job.
Theres big rumours that kurt angle(pro wrestler and ex olympic gold medalist in free style wrestling) is going to try his hand at mma when his current pro wrestling contract runs out in the spring. Could be intresting.

I casn't work out if TNA are just playing wioth the whole angle mma thingy or if its serious.
Angle had broken his neck 3 times(legit) surely mma would be a bad plan for him? hes also fairly small which wont help.

From what I hear Angle is fucked, his neck is shot through and he's on a massive dose of painkillers just to get him through tapings for TNA. Apparantly he's so bad he can't even bend down to lace his boots. Sure the adrenalin would get him down to ringside but he's got to be concerned for his long term health going into a full on MMA bout. Especially with Lesnar, who nearly killed them both last time they met in a wrestling ring with this botched finish - in which he appears to land a shooting star press on the top of his head! So that ridiculously large neck probably saved his life.
Ouch, here's another one with Lesnar botching his own finisher. Could've hurt someone there!

Nah it was a shooting star 450 press he went for. Damn near killed himself too. I remember watching it live, and everyone in the room fell silent as we were all sure we'd just seen another Owen Hart tragedy.

Yeah when he landed on his head in WWE that was really something - im always amazed they finish the match despite him looking like he had no idea where he was. Had to feel sorry for him on that one, as he'd been saving that move and hadnt really used it on WWE TV since his debut, only to fall flat on his face.
I thought Lesnar looked very nervous when first walking out from backstage to face Couture, lots of blinking. But Couture was really starting to look his age. Its just typical that I first started watching MMA due to the buzz about the likes of Lidell and Couture, only to have them fizzle out. Even worse was that silly Kimbo Slice that the now-defunct eliteXC had and tried to protect, he may have been a good street brawler but he was clearly out of his depth.
And yes Angle is physically broken, and is well known for talking nearly as much rubbish as Hulk Hogan. The guy is crazy driven, he really wants to get into MMA and be the best, but his neck is wrecked. He is possibly mad enough to try MMA anyway but if there is actually any sort of sane health/licensing body then they should never let him fight.

Sorry to derail the thread but if you want to see the shooting star press being done properly by Evan Bourne it really is a thing of beauty, and possibly the only reason to tune into the WWE's shockingly awful 'new' ECW brand. He even catches his feet like an upside-down frog splash.
