Uefa Cup final 2008 - Rangers v Zenit St Petersburg

All we hear is how well behaved Celtc fans are, and to tell you the truth it's boring.

I understand that last time they played in Manchester, a few locals took exception to them singing pro-IRA songs outside Wetherspoons - a bit insensitive, to say the least, seeing as the provos had blown up the very area they were standing in just a few years previously.

Yeh, but it's only a song, it won't kill anyone - it's not like trying to kick a copper to death , is it ?

And I have no allegiance to either Ol Firm team as a born and bred Midlander (England).

...and of course, Manchester's redevelopment hasn't exactly been hindered by some free urban renewal courtesy of the provos has it?

Anyone who has any doubt about the word 'hun' can read this thread.

The word comes from Nothern Irish sectarian slang for a protestant and is aplied to Rangers fans as a sectarian slander. Any person who wished to dissasociate themself from the sectarian nature of Celtic would not use it. Clearly few in this thread wish to do so. They seem to revel in the ambiguity of the word. Speaks volumes about them.

The pro Celtic bigotry is this thread is shocking and deplorable. Gloating vitriolic and self congratulatory.

A few months ago some gobshite had a foul sectarian rant at me at an Urban Offline night when I refused to tell him which team I supported. "You must be an Orange bastard then", "Hun" and so on were amoung the colourless invectives hurled my way. Unpleasant but hardly worth a second thought I felt at the time. Reading this thread however puts it in a very different light. Urban 75 seems to be very open in allowing one kind of biggotry to flourish, so long as it has a fig leaf of being 'anti Rangers'. Nods as good as a wink and all that.

A thread full of pure venimous bile. A forum that actively tolerates and celebrates it. A forum that I have no place on to be honest. There is a thousand other pubs and bars in London where I wont have to deal with that shit and a million other places to waste my time online.

Thing is though, comparing the behaviour of the CEltic fans in sevilla, and the rangers fans in manchester, there is no comparison. It's clear which group of fans behave the worse.

Hmm, then again when England fans sing "No surrender to the IRA" it's classed as virtually tantamount to being a mass murderer....

actually, most people are under the impression that 'hun' refers to rangers fan
ive never heard of a protestant celtic fan being called a 'hun'
in fact, ive never heard of protestant killie or aberdeen fans called huns
cetic is a glaswegian club
glaswegian use of the word hun refers exclusively to the blue nosed bastards from govan

bigotry exists in northern ireland?!
boo fucking hoo
get over yourself

Thats interesting. While I've been on here I've noticed a bit of a leaning towards Cardiff City, and, due to being a London based forum, a bit of support for a few London sides. I wouldnt imagine most fans of those sides would particularly be that bothered about which old firm side got to score a few bragging points over the other.

As for the 'anti-rangers' rant, i think you'll find thats going on across a lot of forums, and is quite possibly a talking point in a few of the boozers you frequent. When your fans celebrate a Cup Final by trashing the host cities centre and spraying piss all over it, criticisms due to follow don't you think?

Uefa general secretary David Taylor has condemned the rioting involving Rangers fans in Manchester but confirmed the club will not be punished.

un-fucking-believable

Were Liverpool fined for their fans behavior in Athens? Not a full-scale riot but still unsavoury. Liverpool's defence was was that the thing wasn't organised properly blaming Athens and UEFA. Rangers could have won a similar defence.

Are you still greeting about this pish?

I don't know who you think you're trying to kid, but everyone in the country knows that it has a different meaning in Scotland than it might in N Ireland. It's used by fans of various clubs to refer to Rangers supporters.

You know this.

You are the only sad bastard I've ever come across who wants to pretend that the use of that word is an attack on them.

Bhoys (of the old brigade) against bigotry?

BREAKING NEWS

Rangers have arranged a friendly against Greater Manchester Police.

They're the only people they've attacked all season

Pure unrelenting pish. As you fine well know. I've countless Rangers' supporting friends who happily refer to themselves as Huns. In no way in Glasgow is it equated to a sectarian term for a Protestant.

Be gone with you then, and good riddance. I'm sick fed up reading your sanctimonious drivel about the twin evils of Celtic and Rangers Football Clubs and how they are both to blame for every one of Scotland's ills.

"Pro Celtic bigotry" seems a little confused to me.

I'm surprised that Rangers fans, and the apologists for all things Orange and Blue-Nosed are surprised at the thread. Try growing up around the fuckers and see how your life experiences form and inform your opinions.

Celtic supporters aren't in the habit of rioting cos a TV set doesn't work. Neither are we in the habit of stabbing the opposition's followers (unless they happen to be...). Jesus. Get over it. What exactly did you expect?

Rangers? What was the score again? Loving it.

Hail! Hail!

0-2 just incase you missed it.
