UCLA Student Tazered in campus library

Then he became abusive to the wannabe cops.

Don't worry, I think they're scum for what they did, I just don't have much pity or surprise as to why they did it.
oh i have no doubt that its pretty stupid to be abusive to the cops (they arent wannabe cops, they are actual members of the police force afaik) but its still pretty outrageous to tazer someone multiple times, when they are handcuffed especially as they could have easily removed him from the building with normal force without using a tazer.

also the threatening the other student for asking for his badge number was pretty stupid (and also illegal)

im more shocked at the reactions of the other students. standing round, not actually doing anything to stop it other than asking for the cops names!

ive said plenty of times they were over the top , your dreads getting in your eyes .
If you're going to mention my appearance - which has nothing to with this subject - please have the courtesy to level the playing field and let me see what you look like.

I think that would be good manners.

he is at college i would expect a better level of manners and behaviour .
Ah. So you believe that anyone not showing enough 'manners' deserves to have extreme physical pain inflicted on them, yes?

<editor charges up tazer>

Yes binka it was bang out of order to tazer him , i think it was over the top from the evidence before me .

but he new the rules so why play up like he did ? and make people feel uncomfortable by his actions . thats my gripe . he brough this on himself if he showed his id or left straight awy ( as he may have forgotton it ) he would have defused the situation before it started .

thats what i find strange .

Maybe that's because they'd already seen what these armed guys dish out to anyone showing dissent?

Your own words:
act like a cunt you set your self up to be treated like one .
And could you explain what my hairstyle has to do with the topic being discussed please?

And where's your picture please?

Thanks!

Campus cops. Their biggest case all year is probably 'who keeps feeding the campus Coke machine with Dutch coins?' inbetween harrassing young women just so they can try and chat to them and zooming in on sorority bedrooms with their CCTV cameras.

but its still pretty outrageous to tazer someone multiple times, when they are handcuffed especially as they could have easily removed him from the building with normal force without using a tazer.

Funny though. :D

Legality has nothing to do with it! It is the Land of the Free, where you are Free to do what they tell you do to, and if you don't you are Unpatriotic and you are allowed to get tazered.

That's the thing, if it had happened here, even the most pussy college would have disarmed the cops.

Unfortunately the Americans in most places have bought into that whole fear thing, especially as the guy was from I-Ran.

rubbish lot of students, why didn't they intervene more forcefully just stood and watched. students these days....

and no noone should get tasered just because they don't bring id to the uni library. full stop!

And the shock that goes with that in that situation. I couldn't imagine a similar scenario in a library here, it's just sooooo misplaced.
Like to think I'd try to do something though and those around me too, even if it was just chanting displeasure.

I have no doubt whatsoever that I would have seperated the cops from the student, probably with the aid of a nearby chair. Outrageous fuckers deserve to rot in hell. That has made me so angry.

And those students who watched someone being tortured just because the torturers had uniforms on should be fucking ashamed too.

 :(

do you think his behaiviour was unacepptable ?
He was being a bit of an arse. Students often act that way and colleges should be able to deal with such situations tactfully and peacefully.

But the aggressive and inappropriately heavy-handed actions of the over-the-top violent cops you're busy defending was definitely, 100%, unacceptable.

It was a college library, for fuck's sake and he was already leaving.

I sincerely hope you'll regret your comments in the morning, because your apparent belief in violent, state-sponsored retribution for minor transgressions of college rules smacks of fascism.

I seriously cannot think of ONE college with that many people in this country that would let that happen.

Those cops would have been fucked up.

Like this British cop got fucked up...

Here's the long version:

were did i say i agree with it ? i said it was over the top . could you point out were i said it was ok please .
Right here:

bottom line why refuse to show your id ? why speak to people in a rude manner ? why refuse to leave ?

act like a cunt you set your self up to be treated like one .

The police looked like they wanted to inflict harm on him. He was screaming like a girl in pain and the police kept violently ramming more eletric currents into his body.

He should sue and probably win.

Like watching the itv drama the bill, police charging in whacking anything that moves then stop to ponder "we got the wrong address"

But refusing to leave the library the police sent in they volt you several times with electric guns designed to disable cattle, hmm, something is wrong here, he was iranian right? all this war on terror stuff? america in a panic psycho paranoied frenzy.

Absolutely.

But the guy still had to drink some shut up juice, and it was quite funny...

So you think that it's acceptable to be tazered at college if you refuse to show your ID then?

And how about this? Is this how you want campus staff to act?."

I heard them ask him to stand up about fifty times. He refused.

To all you people in England: if a cop asked to see your ID, would you show it?

If you were on the ground and they asked you to stand up, would you stand up?

If you refused to do those things, what would happen to you?

editor said:
So you do approve of extreme police force being used to enforce library regulations then, yes?

So how about people bunking tube fares? Or non-TV licence payers? Or anyone refusing to instantly bow down to college rules?
Do they all deserve to be tazered too - and their friends too if they dare complain?

Probably not, but in the real world, we all know that cops are really big on authority and respect, and that some of them are just spoiling for a reason to use all that hardware.

Knowing that, most sensible people play along with what the cops want. As I heard one radio commentator say, he'd do pretty much whatever the cops wanted. If it was unreasonable or against his rights, the time to take the issue up isn't then, with an angry armed cop. The time to raise the issue is later, through solicitors.

johnny do you expect cops to beat you, eletrocute you, if you fail to follow a simple question? Try it next time you see a policeman/woman on the street ask them questions, count how long it takes them to electrocute your balls.

But that won't happen will it, usually police ignoring their reputation dont go round beating up people for no reason, unless you expect it of course.

I don't take anything for granted with the cops. When they ask me a question, I answer. When they tell me to do something, I do it.

They have guns, clubs, tasers, dogs etc. I don't.

Like I said, if they do something wrong, I'll go to a lawyer, I won't punch it out with them on the street.

If you are unlucky enough to meet bonehead cops like in that video sure. But depends what expect.

How do you know if a given cop is a bonehead?

You don't.

The prudent course is to assume that any one of them might be a bonehead, and act accordingly.
