Yeah, when I was 13 they seemed pretty cool though I haven't gone back to listen to signing off in about 20 years so have no idea if it stands up these days.

Any road they were my childhood gateway into reggae and the first time I ever heard strange fruit was their version.

ub40 made some beautiful, simple music. and i know quite well my reggae

i'm listening this a lot at the moment.

something lovely about it.

My teen kids quite like watching old TOTP on bbc2. UB40 came on on a 1993 episode doing some sort of live satellite linkup from Philadelphia and my middle one was horrified at them :D
Play them some eary stuff. To be honest I can't stand the latter incarnations that graced TOTP on an annual basis. Once they went poppy I lost interest.

Thought the first album had its moments but no way Jose for me overall. Liked their politics though .

I picked this up in a charity shop a couple of months ago for a couple of quid and there's not a track on it that doesn't stand up as a decent reggae track. It's probably the summary of all the best work they did for me.

Madame Madusa being a personal fav.

I've still got my UB40 card. It's signed by Dudu Pukwana from a gig of his I went to :D

Mk3 Hold YOur Position you posted is great but mk2 Lyric Officer but its a bit weak

Baggawire was the album, still got a copy from ye olden times, the Lickwood Posse deemed Hold Your Position "well bad" back then - Fight fi Come In off ye same album- is another lyrical goodee, but riddim kinda lame
