UAF - oh dear. Oh dear. Oh. Dear.

Knocking Smith's fashion choice :hmm: (deservedly may I say :D), abuse and ascribing words to Smith he never used doesn't really cut it.

Smith underlined the message that the BNP are a fascist organisation with holocaust deniers in it's ranks and leadership. That racist violence increases where they operate. Smith said to halt that is to have a dialogue with voters, build council housing, proper services, stop job cuts and stop politicians scape goating.

I see Darios  noticed Smith's glazed response to the opportunist Hughes.

Happen a lot in your case does it Darios? :D

The BNP site apparently had 160,000 hits yesterday after the incident.
An indication that no matter why the BNP are in the headlines, the more curious the public are of the BNP.
Good or bad thing?

Reading the socilaist unity blog, its clear, Smiths 'quadrophenia look' notwistanding, many on there really do think they, UAF have got popular support and that there tactics will only grow that support, that isn't the view if one reads very forums, media discussion blogs, etc.

Internet forums I've seen give popular support, as opposed to newspaper comment pages and media discussion blogs (mainly written by Tories).

Yes, the same old shit. MILLIONS WILL DIE!!!

It brought to mind an image from my childhood of a man who used to walk the streets wearing a sandwich board.

Martin Smith is just a SWP prick full stop, he disgraced himself on C4 at 7 as well - not for the reasons you think though Liam. ('The best we can do is use democracy, not egg-throwing ' jesus christ) I did like his attempt be w/c by wearing a white Fred Perry he's not fitted into in 20 years and bball ap - his street clothes, his anti-fash clothes.

Oddly enough I thought he came accross very well, unlike Weyman Bennett, the least said about the better

Agree with his proletarian-by-numbers street chic styling though. Tried to hard.

And I doubt even the most cossetted of swappies is going to confuse that look with anything that has been prole wear for at least 2 decades - have you lot even noticed CASUAL in the last 20 years ?

My favourite clobber is Barbour so that probably makes me a class traitor in fashion terms.

Send him to Gok Wan I say.....

I am half way through watching The Great Dictator by Charlie Chaplin. It is good, and frankly much better propaganda against fascism than all the quacking Ive heard on the telly in my lifetime.

Better the above than looking like a twat like most students

Good if they read into it properly and realise they believe in workfare , only someone incredibly thick or rich could vote for being forced to work for £1.40 an hour...

nice fred perry (shoulda undone a button though), cool glasses, decent performance.

i cheer anytime anyone throws anything at griffin.

If tens of thousands of people vote BNP today it will not mean we suddenly have tens of thousands of neo-Nazis in England. It will mean that people feel their concerns are being ignored by all the establishment parties. Those concerns will be about identity and power- about large numbers of immigrants at a time of economic stress, about a multicultural model which is widely unpopular, about what capitalism does to working people, about the fact that 'nobody speaks for us' - the refrain you hear time and time again all over the country and which today may even make Nick Griffin an MEP. That would be a grim result for all of us, but if it happens our reaction to it should be to ask why so many people in England feel so cut off from, and so unheard by, the political elite that they are prepared to vote for a racist party to make their point heard.

A good article on his blog by the author Paul Kingsnorth, who like many has concerns about immigration but is of the radical tradition: he has chronicled the struggles of the global poor for many years, though his latest work is about England
