U75's favourite dessert

spanglechick said:
and jelly - although it might face disqualification on the "too simple" rule - jelly is the ultimate - it's not too sweet, or heavy - there's always room for jelly.
Jellys shit imho :p
Only good for sexy fights - it's rubbish in yer gob

I'd be hard-pressed to choose between:
Pavlova or Eton Mess
Crumble - ideally blackberry or rhubarb
Syllabub - any
Creme brulee
Tarte tatin
Cheesecake

I think that's enough puddings :o

er, have we got a bit of a posho here? Eton Mess? Syllabub?

Are they classics?

Have just looked up syllabub :o

Get out of it :p

:p

Eton mess is just pavlova when you've fucked it up.

And syllabub is definitely classic

I can't help being posh :( ;)

ICE CREAM, JELLY AND SLICED BANANAS (not matter how artistically presented) will NOT be entered in the final poll

Neither will anything that mentions carrots :p

How about Ben & Jerry's Cookie Dough Ice Cream? Which in fact, although disguses itself as an ice cream, it's more like an orgasm in pint form and bears no relation to any of that other air filled Walls crap.

:) what about ginger nut biccy's,, I have dunked 4 in my tea and am going back for more
;) :p :D

Oh yes. My mum bakes the besterest ginga nuts ever...they can be included can't they?

No No No

and it's not even established (as in established for years type of established IFKWIM)

I'm going home :o

ice cream is a pudding on its own

in fact, it stands alone in the world of puddings, king/queen of all

and i am not stamping my feet. i am saving that indignity for when the poll goes up....

Boo to you then. You can stick your poll up your arse if Ben & Jerry's aren't allowed in (I still maintain it's not Ice Cream as we know it and therefore can be classed as a dessert) :p

e2a: I quite like Artic Roll and custard.

Thin ice huh? I feel my bottom lip quivering :p I think you're going to need a seperate poll for 'U75's Favourite Icecream'. Followed by another one that asks 'Do you like your bananas stunningly arranged?' ;) :D

Assuming it hasn't been added yet...

I can't believe banana custard hasn't made it onto the list.

Assuming it has...

Yay, urban75 truly IS the bastion of good taste. Banana custard, yum!

From Ms Pembrokestephen...

Syllabub
Summer Pudding
Eve's Pudding
Queen of Puddings
Zenie's Lemon Souffle
Crepes (no, I said crEpes)
Creme brulee
.
.
.

(she da connoisseur of da pudding)

Choclate soufflée (it's not very foreign, I'm sure there's a recipe in Delia)
or
Chocolate Brownies, warm, with melty gooey chocalatey goodness :) :o.

Chocolate is an essential component of any desert. :p

ETA: Actually, on a non-chocolate note, things like baklava, shamali and khadefi all absolutely kick arse. Anything swimming in sugar syrup is likely to be a winner with me...

lemon souffle!
Aww man. time to pester my mum.

Apart from that I like tiramisu. Theres loads of stuff in this thread I'd love to try though. Baked Alaska always sounds fun (dunno what it is though).

Im not a fan of desserts but will sometimes seek out a mint choc chip ice cream in the summer and carrot cakes ok....

I think you'll find that syllabub has been rejected on the grounds of being too posh

*sniff*

*considers starting own pudding thread. realises can't be arsed  *

I hereby volunteer to make the winning dessert and post pics on my website.

And my nomination is creme brulee.

Well now I've got to add creme brulee to the poll

As you're the only person who's nominated themselves to make the winning dish ;)

Gateaux Negresse (yes I do know that means cake of the black woman, it's a pretty old recipe) - It's a very dense chocolate cake made with ground almonds as well as the usual cakey ingredients. Makes it have a thick, slightly gritty texture - very rich, very decadent. Best served with raspberries and home made caramel ice-cream (which I'll post up a recipe for in a bit).

If anyone doubts its english credentials, it's in the Constance Spry cookbook, which is about as English as is humanly possible.
