U75 Photo Story Challenge

hiccup

King of the Vagabonds
Following on from some discussion on the last photo assignment threads, we shall be trying something a little bit different this time round.

The challenge is: Tell A Story Using Photos. There is no set theme. Use the power of your brain to think of one, then present a series of photos (and, if you wish, accompanying text) to illustrate it.

Rules? Well, I'll suggets the following, but they are only really suggestions:

6 week time scale - 5 weeks to take photos, and a week to post up entries.

Please submit your entries between Saturday 27th May - Saturday 3rd June.

Please vote between Sunday 4th June - Sunday 11th June.

If ten people or less enter, we will vote by poll, one vote per person.
If more than ten enter, we will vote for our top three favourites.

The winner of the poll gets to decide whether there is a theme for the next competition, and must start the thread more quickly than I did.

Please make the images no more than 600 pixels wide/high.

Ideally, the pictures should be new ones, taken within the time period. However, it is permissible to include a couple of old photos if they fit your theme. If you use old images, please state when they were taken.

Um, yeah, that's it I think. Get snapping. Comments welcome :)

Well done Hiccup. Let's hope lots of people enter this one. What about the number of photographs per entrant, are we leaving this open as well?

Just to rescue this from the perils of the second page ;)

Done mine - looking forward to entering it, and hopefully I won't be the only one :D

Haven't done anything yet but will keep my powder dry. I am sure something will crop up that deserves a picture story.

The Hocus Eye Picture Story is ready

Well something did crop up this month and as I have already done it I thought I would put it up early. The title is The Wine Tasting. Here you go:-

http://www.pbase.com/hocus_eye/image/60032227/medium This is a link to the first image of 15. Click on next to go through all of them. I have pre-set the first image to medium to comply with the maximum pixel rule for this competition but you can increase the size if you want to by choosing from below the image.

I have used PS Elements to try to match the colour balance between flash pictures and the available light ones. It was daylight when I began but it got dark as the evening went on. I also did a lot of cropping and a bit of messing around in the background. On checking I see that I mostly entered the flash ones. There were others that I didn't use. That is very unusual for me I hate flash, especially on-camera flash. However I was not a free agent with these pictures, I had been asked to do them as a favour. I got free wine so I did as asked.

Hurray!

Here's mine then: http://web.wapoc.com/udecay/

Where's everyone else eh?

Some seriously good shots amongst that collection and they look a lot better than the PP stuff you posted in this forum a few weeks back. You have an excellent, original and very sensitive eye for a photograph. I like all of the stuff you've posted here.

´Switch On- Switch Off' reminds me of Jim Cookes 'Engineerum' work. http://milim.com/HTML/new_work.htm.

There is a tapas bar here in Granada with switch boards on the walls as decoration. They look great and are very, very 'Urban Decay'. I think the whole urban decay thing is about the downfall of industrial manufacturing in the UK. Sort of a nostalgia for the lives our parents and parents parents lived when they worked 9-5 actually making stuff (like sofas) rather than tapping away on a computer keyboard or, feeding automatic machines.

Nice work. Thoroughly enjoyed looking through them (and, I'm paying for it in aninternet café).

Time this was bumped if we are going to get any more entries. C'mon folks you know you can do it. All you need is a sequence of pictures which together tell a story. Check the first post for details.

Like the pics Hocus. That's the thing with wine tasting, you notice people getting a wee bit more sozzled as time goes on. Bit time-lapse:)

Haven't been able to get out as the weather's been foul for taking pics at the moment,:(

"Please submit your entries between Saturday 27th May - Saturday 3rd June."

So this Saturday is the closing date?

I probably will have something to enter, if some shots I took today turn out OK.

Edit:
Having actually looked at my pics on the big screen -- probably not!
