U2, radical posturing incorperated

But I aint interested in what U2 fans think about their favourate band, we know that already. :)

Think they're shite myself - its the dance stuff in the 90s that pissed me off most. couldnt believe my ears, never been so offended, and i'm sure the DJs who played the record out didnt really like it that much either. And the crowd were pilled up as well, and remember that pills were a lot better back then so they were obviously gonna dance to it. "...Even better than the real thing!'" - Not quite, not as good as say 'Dub War' or 'May the funk be with you' or 'Hideaway' to name just a few of the 99.9% of dance tracks that were better than any crap D:Ream style U2 dance tune

edited to say: New Labour could well have used 'Even Better Than The Real Thing' at that 97 conference. Thank you ;)

Yeah I remember those U2 tunes creeping into the rave scene, pressure from record companies ensured that they got their tunes in the clubs, how sad :)

I always thought it odd that he was called 'The Edge', it gives the impression that his guitar playing is somehow on the edge, on the edge of a fuckin cliff and my large Mancunian hand waits to push him off.

When the Disposable Heroes of Hiphoprisy supported them on tour way many many many years ago, they thought he was called Reg, which seems lots more appropriate. Apparently nobody disabused them of their mistake until afterwards.

Let it go guys!
I think you're right comrade I've seen these sort of threads on here before. Set one up and watch the usual set of middle age bowling alley boys come along to knock it down. :p

Nothing is as good as it was in their day :D

Bono is going to save the world one day and I'll be right there beside him with or without this lot. With young rockers like Chris Martin and Chico we'll bring mass produced shiny happy people music and fill stadiums serving piss poor lager and blow-up fruits and a message of love that will raise the consciousness of those who........

Shit!! You know they might be right. It's really hard to defend U2 but then you either like something or you don't. The venom out of these lot is funny though :D Don't mention the B word around here much. :D

Thinking about it the Batamn tune was one of the only songs theyve ever done that sounded a but different to their usual stuff

This thread does make kind of nostalgic for the 80s. In Ireland then there was a feeling of a 'voice of their generation' thing going on with U2. I've been thinking of getting Boy and War again - I used to love those albums when I was 14/15.

But anyone who's still a fan - well, it's like being a fan of a multinational corporation, innit?
