Turnkey in Administration.

There are. But arent they mainly Drums, Saxaphones and Guitar shops these days? Its been a while since I went to a music store (in fact iirc Turnkey was the last one I went into, and I dont know how happy they are going to be to let me have a play around on a load of VST's and Midi Keyboards when we both know that I'm going to buy it cheaper online :)

Argent (on Denmark St) used to be pretty much keyboard-dominated. Might be worth giving them a bell!

West End DJ cater for the soft synth and midi controller market nowadays.

Helluva bump!

I've just been reminded how much I disliked Turnkey.

Went in once (early 90s) to buy a tuner. Got to the counter...

"I'm after a stage tuner, what do you have that's good?"

Assistant stares sullenly at me, sighs, then silently motions toward the locked cupboard behind him. No prices on display.

I'd like to ask him how much they are, but in the moment I'd taken to find what he was pointing at, he's decided to walk out from behind the counter to talk to the guy standing behind me in the queue, leaving me with nobody to talk to.

Earwigging on their conversation it became obvious that the sales guy suddenly became very friendly when a budget of £1500 was mentioned for a new keyboard and they strolled off together.

After a couple of minutes boredom set in when no one else wanted to sell me anything, but I got even more bored waiting for anyone to buzz me out of the locked front door (security measure, apparently).

Similar story when I made the mistake of attempting to buy a guitar stand there - not worth their time for such a small sale even when I said to a member of staff that I'd like to pay for it (he disappeared and never came back).

I didn't give them a third chance when I was actually looking to spend £1000 on a bass.

Only just seen this. I worked at Turnkey for a couple of minutes (3 weeks) in the mid-90s. Awful place. I was the 'goods in man' lugging deliveries down to the basement and then on to the broom cupboard/stockroom. Remember doing an audit at their warehouse somewhere out in greater London where we hoisted up on a forklift truck about 30 feet in the air to count guitars and what not - no health and safety consideration at all.
