Tomorrow we're going To Goa. :) North first, then South. I'm the happiest pixie. :)

May I recommend Chapora - right at the North of Vagator Beach there's a small cove.... directly beneath the old Portuguese fort..

Anyway.. you must do as you wish

How's the beds though Vixen?

I second Chapora - my mate described it as like a cowboy town but with motorbikes instead of horses.

It'll be all closed up now though.....like a deserted cowboy town.....like a ghost town then.

Arambol (even further north) is nice (and on the beach - which Chapora isn't).

Thats a comfy example.

Positively comfortable compared to the badly chisselled stone floor I slept on which sent my back awol (thankyou for your sympathy Maggot - I think not!).

There's only so much I can take in the name of curiosity.

Does 'The Love Hostel' still exist?

Something to do with love anyway....do me a fucking favour  ....I went there everyday - just like they told me to - desperately trying to get a bed that was made up of planks instead of stone....and they sent me away every time after a lengthy period of leaving me standing like a fool in front of loads of fucking smug bastards who had a guitar ( ) aswell as a comfy bed and a toilet of sorts.

I never saw a single fucking temple unless I fell over it, such was my dedication to a good nights sleep.

Gives these guys a ring for nicetime room in Chapora..

Devu (Bapulo) V. Parab
Near Datta Temple, below the Fort,
Dabol vaddo,
Chapora
Post Vagotor, Bardez - Goa 403 509 (India)

Tell them Hollis recommended you, okay!

Goa's alright. To be honest I think Varkala is nicer. Bloody glad it's low season, don't think I could handle all those ugly tourists. :)

After four and a half weeks of perfect health I finally vomited yesterday morning. Not fun at all. :( We had to get the nine hour train from Hampi to Goa. It was quite amusing though, the train was full of young Indian students on their way back to uni. Every time we went through a dark tunnel, much of the train screamed really loudly. This went on for many hours. Every time we went past anything beautiful or scenic, they all screamed with joy.

We're in Palolem now. Staying somewhere here:

Tadaaa :)

We're in North Goa now and it is deader than Princess Di. Everywhere else we've been there's been other tourists around despite the low season. Here in Anjuna and Vagator a good 80% of tourist establishments are shut up for the monsoon and there are only a very few lost-looking backpackers wandering around. It looks like it might be an okay place in high season but right now the skies are gloomy and Anjuna in particular is like a ghost town. I knew it would be quiet here but not this quiet.

At least we have each other.

Yeah I was there a bit earlier in the year but it was also fucking dead. Is the monsoon still going?

Get decent bikes & spend some time exploring the villages etc? I spent quite a lot of time in Calangute, which is proper package tourist hell in the season but was quite pleasantly post-apocalypically empty. Plus they have a decent food market all year round, I think. Plus you can get decent hotel rooms very cheap cause... it's empty (don't tend to be any services though!).

Were you ever known to partake of a few drinks in Sudan's English Bar Hollis?

Off hand I can't say I remember that particular drinking joint..

Anyhow I hear Mungo Park's tour of India is coming to a close.. sheo .. let us hope we have enhanced the level of insight and experience gained by the young couple, while facilitating their dealings with the natives.. old hands passing on experience to the youth - as it should be.. :) :) :)

Afaik, it's come to a close. With your guidance, they have navigated their way round India and made their way safely back to Blighty, ready to pass on their knowledge to the next generation of eager travellers

Indeed we have returned, and are slowly recovering. You will now all be forced to watch a slide show of our trip. It will take only two hours :)

Oh please, let me know every detai of every leaf on every crumbling temple wal. Tell us all about it :)
