Turkey tips

He'll be fine. Hisaronu is now full of crap restaurants for Brits who don't want to eat foreign muck. :D

[I realised the place had gone to the dogs some twelve years ago when a bar called the Rover's Return opened]

There's one called Del Boy's apparently

I've found a website and they're having a debate over whether it's now comparable to Blackpool :D

Dalaman airport is fine (£12 for a meal at McDonalds, mind) and it's about 1hr 30 mins to Fethiye, not 4 and a half hours! Good roads as well.

It is very 'Brits abroad' but you can have fun with that.

Been told it's down to under an hour due to a new tunnel being built, but suppose it depends on traffic doesn't it :D

Been advised to get your hotel or local bakery to make up some sarnies before you go to Dalaman in case you're stuck there

the airport is fine, you are sometimes delayed getting into the airport if all the transfer buses arrive at the same time, as everyones luggage is scanned before you enter the terminal (before check in)

there isnt much there, a few duty free shops selling the same ol stuff, & of eating establishments & as others have said the prices are horrendous .. def take supplies with you.
the airport itself is really modern, clean & spacous ... it used to be really really smokey (the old airport) but since the laws have changed over there regarding smoking in public places it has breathable air (lol)

I checked "Sleeping in Airports". It's not a very good airport to be stuck in by the sounds of it, unlike Changi, of which I've fond memories :o

Also about 2.5 hours by road from Fethiye. It in't worth that!

My Mum flies in and out of Dalaman about 6 times a year, and (touch wood) hasn't had a problem yet. Its about 40 mins-1 hour to Fethiye. Road is very good.
