Omar - Lay it Down (Andre Lodemann Remix)
Takes 4 minutes before it kicks in
Shine on you crazy diamond
Money for nothing
Sweet child of mine
For starters, I'm sure I think of more when I've made my coffee
Stairway To Heaven
karn evil 9 (is well over 20 minutes iirc)
Road to Hell
Black Magic Woman
Bat out of Hell
Funeral for a Friend
There must be loads by Yes, Meatloaf, ELP, The Who liked a long intro, Genesis, led zeppelin and the like
Papa Was a Rolling Stone, Temptations.
Although short songs, many of old Billie Holiday standards have long intros, in some of them she literally sings just a few lines, half way through, almost like a guest singer.
Never Be the same, Riffin the scotch...(this swings like crazy!)
The Damned, Smash It Up, if you count both parts.
In my time of dying.
Nobody's fault but mine.
This has a longish intro
I was going to say this, but it's only a two minute intro and the track is 18 minutes... have it anyway though 'cause it's lush.
If you don't count the "ahh ahh"s and the "doo doo doo doo"s, the intro of this is a minute and a half, half the length of the whole track
4m 36s intro on this....
Vapourspace - Gravitational Arch Of Ten - YouTube
Mother of pearl - roxy music
Spoiler: Diana Ross - Love Hangover (Frankie Knuckles Mix)
if we're trying for the longest, the Vapourspace intro is nearly 6 mins
It's not a competition!
Any and all long intros are good
Pah. Napalm Death would have played half a dozen other tracks in the time it takes her to introduce this cover.
you mentioned the length, so I thought it must be
Just an extra bit of info. Apologies if I came across as competitive. That wasn't my aim
First verse starts at 5:18.
Spoiler: 69 - desire
Only about a minute out of a 5 minute track, but pretty damn perfect. You can feel the anticipitation, the build up, the increasing intensity working towards a climax
(posted for title track)
Also worthy of mention for a great intro
Tesla - Love Song
