Tunes Most People Don't Realise are Covers

Wrong that his version is shit. esp when put up against that dando twat.

I like the pastels version. The Nesmith one sounds really bland. I don't know the Linda Ronstadt version.

I was rather surprised to discover only yesterday that Randy Newman wrote Mama Told Me Not To Come. (-I always thought it was a Three Dog Night original.)

Did once hear a conversation between two young goths as to who did the orignal version of "Personal Jesus" - Marilyn Manson or Johnny Cash:D

Luckily my DM loving husband was not with me to deck them!

Ready or Not by the Fugees. Was very disappointed to find it wasn't theirs. Not sure who sang it originally (though wikipedia says it was written by Thom Bell and William Hart, the latter of the Delfonics).

i knew beaver patrol was but i can't remember who by - for some reason i have it in my head that it was some band that bobby gillspie was in?!?

 :D

It was by The Wild Knights, and it's the only version worth hearing!

On the subject of Primal Scream, I can't fault their choice of covers (Some Velvet Morning, Five Years Ahead Of My Time, Kick Out The Jams, etc), but they NEVER match up to the originals whatsoever.

Which reminds me... For years, I was under the impression that Ramblin' Rose was an MC5 original. :o

Manfred Manns, Blinded by the light cover version of the original by Bruce Springsteen from Greeting from Ashbury Park NJ.

I didn't know Carole King wrote Pleasant Valley Sunday and Porpoise song.
She wrote lots a stuff. She was primarliy a songwriter - she just happened to have a monster selling album once.

The Bees didn't write A Minha Menina (-and neither did Os Mutantes).

And no, M-People didn't fucking write Itchycoo Park. :D

Yeah I know but I just didn't realise she wrote those two until 20 minutes ago. I was convinced they were someone else's.

Wylde Knights. Tsk

Minus one on the garage-punk scale.

Bollocks, my Pebbles album says 'The Wild Knights'. :p

Then again, that series got re-issued so many times by so many different companies that I'm not surprised there might be a few errors in the sleevenotes... ;)

johnny cash - hurt

I heard some kid once aswell going on about how some other band had totally ripped off marylin mansons tainted love

Eh? :D

Ramblin' Rose isn't an MC5 original. Apparently, 'Wilkin/Burch' wrote it (-nope, I've never heard of 'em either...). I don't know who sung it originally, but my favourite version is Ted Taylor's amazing falsetto R'n'B version from 1964. :)

You lie that you didn't know. How could you not. You're not daft like.
