I remember people on this board saying there'd be a civil war if the British army ever left Northern Ireland or the North or whatever you want to call it. Unfortunately their still here but there was no real response from Protestants about when the garrison was reduced to 5000. The love ulster movement never really gained any interest. Theres been no real opposition to Sinn fein in government or the RUC name change. Its like the analogy of boling a frog, dramatic changes are happening slowly so that when theres a united Ireland in 15 or 20 years it wouldn't proke any response from Prods.
The Brits don't want the prods but the freestate doesn't want the taigs either and Siin feins poor showing in the Irish elections makes a United Ireland seem unlikely in the near future.
Well if it was reunification which the protestants were not happy with the
chances of it kicking off would be huge .And I doubt the Irish state would be too keen on having to sort it out .Considering the resources it took last time
celtic tiger would get sick very quickly.
Fortunatly thats not going to happen if or when it happens it will be slowly
and everyone will be happy with it or at least not unhappy enough to fight
it .
