My cat Milly is very hairy. Fuzzy paws and an even fuzzier arse area. She goes into the litter tray and does her business, only problem is 5 times now she has come out and there is a piece stuck in her fur. She starts pelting round the gaff and oot it plops. Has anyone ever clipped their cat, or taken it to be tidyed up at at a groomers? She's quite a nervous cat, I don't want to traumatise her but I don't think I'm capable of doing this mission alone.

Vet suggested I do that with Cosmo (dog though), although she doesn't suffer from that problem. Do it while she's eating? With gardening gloves and protective clothing?

I had a yorkie years ago that could get a bit matted. Milly's is solid on exiting the growth, but still.....

I did have a Philishave I could have sent you, but it was 30 years old and never used so I threw it out :(

Sorry - I Liked your post but realized that looked a bit strange.

Give her some cat valium first. Then have lots of treats, nip and those cat plugin on the go after. It's also a two person job.

I took it as hairy arse (dog/cat) solidarity

My mate Dave once suggested pushing the cat into a Wellington, so it cannot turn around and scratch you.
Knowing Dave and thinking about it now, he may not have been trimming its bum!

I don't know anyone who can help. I asked an ex a while back to help me administer metacam. I held her, opened her jaw and he was shitting himself that much he squirted it in her face :hmm:

    kalidarkone Bringing YOU round.....

I once had very long haired cats and I took them to the kitty parlour to get em trimmed.
They looked fucking ridiculous but were much lower maintenance. I remember mdk1 who was about 7 at the time getting his friend to smell the cats cus they ''smelt like candy' after coming back from the parlour. I feel bad now as it was probably quite traumatic for them. What a job!

Only advice is that this is definitely a two-person job. She'll hate it. But she''ll get over it.

Just looked at prices on a random kitty parlour website.
    £35 for a hygiene trim
    £65 for a lion cut.
    Expensive but a risky job!

Maybe they have a training school where you can get it done cheap like cat hairdresser school?

I thought I could get some chicken breast (she's a bit of a foody being abandoned) and doing it whilst occupied with her fave food.
Plus, it's gonna grow back and she'll be prepared for another traumatic arse trim.

If you can't get it all off in one sitting then don't worry about it or stress the cat. This is going to be your new chore so don't make the cat stressed or it will ruin your life.
    Hope that helps.

Aha, a beard trimmer. I got one of them but I'm not allowing access to that either.

And re. that video I'd prefer a quick targeted in and out myself, just tempting fate otherwise.

I've got a lady shave that struggles with my hair (not arse) so that's no good.

You couldn't train your cat to carry a small bucket round on her tail?
