Transformers The Move - Full Trailer

...it looks like they are trying to make it into a horror film, which is just daft...
I thought that too. I think it looks shit. Especially that they've made it 'dark'. I think I'll give this a miss. Then again, I give most films a miss. It's too much effort to sniff out a decent film; I'd rather be spoon-fed decent films in the same way that the masses are spoon-fed shite films

This thread needs to be remaned 'The Nerd Room' ..or something.

That way you can all chat about other stuff too ...like comics, video games and Justin Timberlake.

I'm not taking the piss, I'm serious.

I'm not a nerd. I saw the original Transformers film when I was at junior school. No interest in the remake.

Bad Boys
The Rock
Armageddon
Pearl Harbour
Bad Boys II

Are all fucking terrible films, is transformers going to be any different? It's extremely doubtful.

Well I'd have to disagree about Bad Boys, The Rock and Armageddon as being 'crap'...

What a shame, could of been amazing.

1. It's could have been amazing...

2. Why? It's basically a merchandising film, and the back story to the transformers is about as in-depth as the audience it's meant for - 7-10 year olds.

Like I said earlier - why expect Citizen Kane from a film about kids' toys?

There are going to be big robots stomping around blowing shit up. Anything else on screen is obviously just because they couldn't afford to make 120 minutes of stompy-stompy-boom fx.

because the cartoon version is a classic of plot and characterisation!

I especially liked it's use of allegory and allusion, altho I felt it overused the counterpoint technique...

the comics (UK version) were by far superior. the exploration of the nature of divinity and the role of optimus prime as the king-who-dies-and-is-reborn towards then end of the cycle mark it out as an unsung classic of comics writing.

You can bet your thumbs that some media studies student somewhere has done a full po-mo deconstruction of Transformers.

it's a little known fact that the character of megatron in the first TFTM was based around marlowe's tamburlane.

haha, i wasn't joking about the king-who-dies bit. i wanted to do it as a dissertation.

Ravage was a representation of nature's place in a man made society, of the way that in many ways, technological devices have replaced pets in the reckoning of some, and in which animals are a thing we own, and not the man's best friend that they once were.

exactly. the loyalty and devotion one expects from a pet has been transferred to a being that seeks to destroy us. it is the fear of the animal nature, a throwback to our primitive side.

On the side of criticism, I felt that the sudden, unprompted arrival of Shockwave at the end of the first story cycle was a hurried, poor inclusion, as was the fact that the publishers seemed to 'forget' to print the next edition...

actually, that was because the uk had caught up with the american publishing cycle and so for a few weeks it was that the americans didn't get to enable the publishing cycles to be sorted out. the vast majority of TFcomics were never published in america; we got all the decent stuff.

Some guy in the USAF changed his name to optimus prime on the eve of
gulf war 2 .How can you make a transformer film dark? .but, then I laughed when they said the treminator was going to be a goody.

this is one of those threads that guarantees i will never get laid again :(

:D

I love these Transformers The Movie threads. I can make my bloke very happy.

Just got round to looking at the trailer. That looks absolutely balls.
Not enough robots, far, far too many people, plus a fucking child. Carrying a fucking stuffed animal. For fucks sake. Cliche-central. Absolute wankery.
Transformers is all about brightly coloured drawings for fucks' sake, not about people being scared.
I want giant fuck-off exploding robots all over the place nuking shit and each other. No puny human-centred action.
GASH!
It will suck arse.
<disclaimer, today I have drunk too much coffee, I am stressed, bored, fed-up and angry>

At the risk of this becoming a complete crapcartoon nostalgia-fest, I'd like to see a live action Centurions film
