transferring music from Ipod to PC

I have a shit load of music on an old Ipod - I want to transfer it to my PC - preferably to Itunes so I can have it on another Ipod - How can I do this? It's an old Ipod.

1. Turn on 'show hidden files' in Windows Explorer (it's in Tools, Folder Options)
2. Turn on 'copy to iTunes music folder when adding to library' and 'Keep itunes folder organised' (they're in the 'advanced' tab in preferences
3. Plug you ipod in and you should see a folder on it called 'iPod_Control'
4. Drag that folder onto the itunes window - all the music should start copying over.

Oh thanks Crispy - I just did it - it worked :) thanks!

The way that you now have itunes set up, adding new music goes like this:
Download your new things to the desktop or your downloads folder. Drag the files onto the itunes window - wait for them to copy. iTunes will make a copy of the files in its library folder. Now delete the originals.
I like this method because it means itunes takes care of filing the music away in an appropriate folder.

This is a timely thread because my 'puter just died and I had to do a full restore which, amongst other things deleted all my music. At present it's all still on my iphone.

I'm trying to follow Crispy's steps, but I can't get the 'puter to recognise my iphone as anything other than a camera device, and as such it won't show me any files on the phone other than pictures

Any suggestions?

Hello, hello mr Crispy! I am trying to do this but cannot find Tools in Windows Explorer :o

OK, so that works fine up until step 4, where it doesn't. It just doesn't. Any ideas?
