Then there was Gatecrasher. When I lived in Sheffield, Gatecrasher had just started and was seen as a cheesy house night where 30 something blokes would go to pick up teenage girls on pills. But then the whole dressing like a fule and waving glowsticks scene developed there. And the music got worse and worse leading to what most people think of as trance today.

gatecrasher is a shadow of its former self. There aren't many cybers at the trance nights they put on - once a fucking month! The rest of the time its house, and hip hop and cheap drinks nights for students.

the club is also shit, i really don't get what the fuck was going on; camden palace was way better.

harthouse, rising high, noom, prolekult and the like always used to kick arse like... not heard anything i can bear to listen to in some time though.

I remember having a complete "moment" whilst on lots of speed and LSD to that CD :D

I think it may well be 'Fever Called Love'...I know it was a Hardfloor remix of a RHC track, cos the structure of the remix reminded me VERY much of their version of Yeke Yeke...

RHC had one called "Tangled in My Thoughts" and one called "Fever Called Love".

Haven't been to a trance club in years it got boring pretty quick. Usually it's all a big buildup to nothing.

BOOOOOOOOOOORING

Isn't trance what they play on kids TV nowadays?

Deep House!! (i turn it down at traffic lights now thou)

Sometimes crap sometimes not. I did an empirical test by checking most played on my mp3 which reveals that I like Commercial Hippies, Infected Mushroom and Hallucinogen more than any thing else. However being of an elderly pursuasion I am crap at identifying sub genres and think maybe Hallucinogen are more DnB. What I most definitely dont like is any type of music where a whispery floaty female singer goes on and on and on about something. I do like the slightly menacing stuff you get with some psytrance - extracts from acid writers or freaky films. However I would never be seen in public with wings on or decorate my self with glowsticks and dayglo lycra.

I would never nail my colours to any mast music wise really or declare anything crap/not crap as there is always the exception - Mr Catinthehat firmly belives he will one day find a bit of minimalist techno that I like (and maybe I will if he stops explaining it to me in such great detail).

Every genre has some good points.

Trance is one of these, I don't believe you can write off a whole genre....

Having thought it through I realise it sounded like I was saying that D n B was a subgenre of trance - subsequently a point made at the obvious wrongness of this, followed by a pointing out that this is age related. No randomness on anyones part but mine. Sorry, boring myself now.

That reminds me – I've got a pristine copy of Trance 'n' Bass that I've never quite had the nerve to listen to...
