I don't think Cheg is a racist, certainly not consciously so. But I do think that many people's abuse of traffic wardens is racist in motivation. There's a certain amount of "who are these Africans coming over here and telling us proper Brits where to park our cars" about it in my opinion.

Sounds like the letter should get you off. There really should be a little leeway when residents' parking zones are changed temporarily - how late were you in moving the car anyway? An hour? A day?

And it sounds like you were angry, but you weren't exactly abusing the guy.

I wonder if they'll give you some money back for the time that your residents' permit isn't active.

Oh, he never lets reality get in the way of his posts.

But, as others have suggested, best bet is cover your arse and send a brief ‘recorded deliverly’ letter to the council stating the facts as you see them.

i'd be careful mate, i worked at the other end of the phones for a while and there has been more than one cases of a warden avoid a slap by simply taking the ticket back safe in the knowledge that that the ticket is on the machine and can't be taken back. the next thing you'll hear is when you get the fourteen day notice. i'd phone the council and tell get them to check. then you can appeal cos the suspension is wrong. make sure you get picks, or something though.
