i don't think the new era estate was formerly council-owned.How does this work then? Councils can sell off social housing, the tenants keep their secure tenancies but the new landlord can rid himself of them by whacking up the rent?

When the Benyon Estate discovered the Mirror was investigating, it demanded “details of any named contributors” to this story.
A Mirror investigation with the GMB union earlier this year revealed Benyon’s £110 million estate has received hundreds of thousands of pounds of housing benefit – despite the MP attacking the “something for nothing” welfare state...
On top of Mr Benyon’s haul from tenants and the taxpayer, his family farms received more than £2 million in EU subsidies since 2000.
There are two things people often say having met Richard Benyon MP. First, “What a bloody nice bloke” he is, and second, “Is he really 52?” He can disarm even the most lunatic of left-wing opponents, with a few well-chosen words, and, when coupled with his boyish looks, it’s difficult to find someone more earnest and likeable.
Benyon exudes a caring One Nation Tory approach to life, always striving to improve things for his constituents. In fact, he must be in love with the place as he tried three times to win there before he was successful.
.....
But Benyon is keen to reel off a surprising long list of achievements: “When I’m moved on I’ll be able to look back on a time at Defra when we changed the way we protect the environment, created new Nature Improvement Areas, played a leadership role in reforming the daft Common Fisheries Policy, and gave the country economy the means to lift off by getting super-fast broadband to rural England.
“We will have better disease-protected crops and animals, brought the 75 per cent of our rivers which are in failing condition back on the road to recovery, changed the way we prepare for and prevent flooding, and will have reformed our water industry. We have played a leadership role in the world in protecting everything from whales to tigers.”
.....
Perhaps it’s an unfortunate comparison to draw, but any thoughtful viewer of the Benyon dynasty would look at what they leave to future generations, not at their wealth and fortune.

Apropos of nothing, that looks like exactly the sort of place that could be hit with a medium-sized ballistic missile with practically no risk of collateral damage to neighbouring homes.
Unfortunately no one makes those with anything other than nuclear warheads. As a spotter could give you a list of stuff that would do the job. Still think crucifying him on the front lawn and letting a pack of teenagers wreck the joint while he bleeds out would be better.true - you can't really blame the Tories for being selfish, money grabbling, poor hating cunts - it is just the way they areKnowing these tory cunts it probably hasn't occurred to him that this isn't a nice thing to do. If anything he seems to think the residents are being unfair to him by only paying rents they can actually afford to pay. He is entitled to a certain amount of free money for owning property in London, that's just how the system works. These people, by being poor, are basically denying him what's rightfully his.
I don't know what people expect him to do really, I mean the only soultion I can think of is if he threw himself into an industrial sewage macerator after amending his will to leave all his properties to the people who actually live there.

yeh it says 'boundary of the benyon estate'There's a lamp post with his name on it.
Essentially he went around the place knocking on people's doors - a tory millionaire with 20,000 acres of land stolen 300 year ago - and said "give me more money or fuck off".Jesus fucking wept, layer upon layer of shite. Where do you even start on this one? That the estate was up for sale in the first place? That you can buy an entire estate?
Makes me wish chemtrails were real.Richard lives in this tiny house in the country, so he can't be expected to understand urban life.

it is the position the neutron bomb was invented forIt looks quite a nice house, be a good holiday destination for the people he's trying to displace. Perhaps a bit of careful nerve gas release?
The attitude here is entirely 'I have invested x amount, I expect y% return on my investment over z years, I will raise rents in order to meet this expectation and this is perfectly reasonable. People you say? Well I'm sorry, but this is an investment and I'm sure they will understand that I need to make an adequate return on it.'
Teach your children all you oppressed and wretched men of passing time,Spotter alert thats conventional high explosive rather than nasty banned napalm
