I thought Saw was risible. A decent premise with an appalling script, apalling acting, appalling everything
a bit of saliva dribble came out when i first saw hostel. and that is true. it went on my boyfriend's jumper.

some people might see it as a positive![]()
What were you expecting? It's "torture porn". The clue is in the genre name... 'twas never gonna be oscar material.
sweet. thanks! i've seen the evil dead films recently but i found them more like comedies. i fucking loved them but they'e not scary really.

I always thought they _were_ comedies (well, I've not seen the first one). I didn't realise that there was moral panic about it until way after seeing 2.

Dunno about scared. the original of The Vanishing really freaked the fuck out of me, though.

Braindead/Dead Alive[/URL][/I] (1992)

I think SAW is on BBC1 tonight. I'm going to try watching it but have no compunction about turning it off if it's shit. .
On the other hand it's not going to autmaticly make the movie bad because some hack gave the "genre" a silly label.
When you guys talk about being "terrified" and "scared" by a film, do you really mean it? Like, genuinely scared?
I've never seen a film in my life that's scared me, it's just a film, it's not real, how on earth can it scare you![]()
OK, things might look a bit icky, but any more than that? Nah.

a lot of the italian stuff released in the early 80s was much more repulsive and sadistic than anything like hostel or saw - check out umberto lenzi or ruggero deodatos films if you want to see something really depraved

dunno, i think some of them a pretty good. admittedly most are very trashy, but i'd rather watch them than the new wave of horror films of late
