Topshop loses it

I quite like them. :o :o :o

I generally don't like Topshop, so am unlikely to try a pair on. Maybe that is a good thing.

I'd wear em if someone bought them for me.

I'd imagine they'd look cool with a good tan, a skinny vest top and some high shoes.

Over size 8 need not apply though :D

It'll make your bum look big...:p :p :D

yeah, fuck you size 10s and 12s and all you other fatties!! think again if you're thinking of daring to wear something you like that might bring attention to your horrible obeseness

or... "bollocks." :)

Some people would wear a dogshit round her neck if they thought it was trendy.. ;)

(actually, my husband used to say that about me.. I do not follow trends  )

actually this has got me pondering, why is their no fashion forum, why have I had to sully myself with the stench of suburbia to read this thread? Surely topshop is not for those who potter around Homebase on a saturday!

milesy there's a saying that one of my mates says:

She's a curvy/vuloptous Siciliian size 16 or so

'Just cos they make it in your size, don't mean you gotta wear it' and I agree with this.

Just like horizontal stripes, you wear what flatters your figure :p

fantastic. there's also a saying that i say that goes "just cos someone says you shouldn't wear something cos they think you're the wrong size for it doesn't mean you shouldn't wear it if you want".

there's another saying that goes "if you think you have a fat arse it usually means you have"

or "fuck off fashion police"

You know I speak the truth

Some clothes dont flatter some body shapes whether you're fat or skinny.

what truth - that "just because something is made in your size doesn't mean you have to wear it"? course that's true, but then no-one ever said that you *did* have to....

Yeah - like these spooky MC Hammer trousers. I'm tempted to buy a pair for you and teeps and see if you look good in em. I suspect it'll be another waders sitch.

why do clothes have to always flatter? might seem a daft question, but cant we just wear things because we like them anymore?

i mean, my baggy grandad tops dont exactly flatter me, but i like them. they are comfy, and i reckon those trousers would be comfy too (tho i would not wear them in a floral design....i dont do floral...)

no way!! if it doesn't make you look thinner - bin it. if it doesn't make your legs look longer - bin it. if it doesn't make your neck look slender - bin it. you get the idea? there are fashion RULES and you must stick to those rules or else you will be shunned forever more.

yeah but would you go out to a club in said tops? What's wrong with pointing out that some things don't suit certain people or talking about what flatters? If you don't care about any of that then why post on a fashion thread?

Shit i remember having something like that in the 80's........................

(i did actually wear 'em too)

they were hideous then and they're hideous now, never saw anyone that looked good in 'em, whatever their shape or size !

Depends whether you give a fuck or not, or how neurotic you are :D

milesy clothes shops make them in your size therefore you think you'll look *great* doesn't always work does it? :)

Nah, if I dont have a comedown on saturday I might go and try some on and take some pics with my cameraphone just to spite you all. :p

(I did like socks with flip-flops remember ;) )

Look at it this way...

You should feel lucky that a high street store feels it can sell something so... [fashion mode] directional. 5 years ago you'd only have seen something as peculiar as that on the pages of i-D made by an obscure scandinavian designer, for order only.

Good thing? I think so. :o :D

I agree. If mad shit like this filters down to the highstreet it means there must be more interesting stuff in general for all to wear. I think they are foul but at least TopShop are doing some bonkers stuff. I like it when the kids wear crazy clothes - I applaud them - I even applaud Goths. I don't get it, but I applaud them.

to giver her opinion on the subject or to argue a point?

no it doesn't always work, but then that's down to the individual to decide... there are things that i've tried on and other people have said it looks good, and i think it looks shit. it's all down to personal taste. there's no rules about what does look good and what doesn't. well, there shouldn't be, anyway....

anyway, i'm outta here. g'bye. (not a flounce, just very busy at work)

it's quite hard for me to fathom just how much more stylish mainstream fashion has got in the past 4 years or so, I mean even Topman has some decent stuff if you just make sure you don't buy into their gawdy latest "look", just mix and match a few things and it's pretty decent.

hippy bolloxs, the person can think it looks good all they want, no one is suggesting they prison time for denim on denim or bleached jeans (actually....) but it's hardly out of order for people to think it looks shite and to comment on it.

i have no problem with pointing out that certain things dont suit certain people, or aren't flattering. its down to personal opinion after all. what i have a problem with are comments like "over size 8 need not apply". remarks like that are just crap in my opinion.

as for saying i dont care about what flatters etc, i never said that, did i?

and yes i would go to a club in my grandad top. some of them are rather pretty.

i wonder if you can get those trousers in kiddie sizes? madge would love them

i think your taking the "over size 8 need not apply" far too seriously, the point was and I'd tend to agree, that these kind of trousers will only really work on a petite figure, they aren't flattering to other shapes, just as other clothes aren't flattering to smaller ladies. There is a reason I don't wear wife beaters and it's cos i'd look like Mr Muscle in them, likwise skinny indie/emo kid doesn't work so well if you are built like a night club bouncer.
