I listened to Sign of the Times on saturday after digging my old vinyl out of the loft. Macka B is kind of great and kind of crap at the same time![]()

know what you mean lol
"too much bean bean"lolquality though
My favourite is Indian Girl - off the other Album - which treads the fine line between great dub and questionable lyrical content.
At the risk of thread-wide derision - and in no particular order these are my favourites that spring to mind:
Sly & Robbie - Taxi Connection
UB40 - Signing Off
Gregory Isaacs - Night Nurse
Lee Perry - Time Boom
I'm a huge fan of the roots pre-digital Jammys stuff, so the Pressure Sounds collection "The Crowning of Prince Jammy"

There was one on Maximum pressure too I think, only 3 or 4 releases on that label and they were all great, Winston Riley Productions - Dancehall Techniques 86-91, Rough Inna Town - The X-Terminator Sound and Flag Flown High - Best of Bobby Digital.

My list has been mostly covered by El Jeffe and Ringo, but until yesterday I hadn't heard Bob Andy's Songbook. On first listening I think it'll definitely find a place in upper reaches of my top ten![]()
The Xterminator is my favourite, have you heard the dub CD they put out? By far the only dub worth listening to come out of Jamaica from the 90's.
Winston Riley doesn't get the attention he deserves, not only was he in the Techniques, one of the finest three part harmony groups ever to grace a recording studio, but his Techniques label has been knocking out top notch hits for decades. Couple of great Pressue Sounds (again) compilations, especially the Roots Techniques LP, which are so good I've been trying to get most of the tracks therein in original 45 since it's release.
seems pressure sounds are well on the ball reissue wise just listening to a roots radics comp i forget how many quality tunes they,ve done the riddims for greensleeves being the 1st label i started to buy regurlarly 1st bought clint eastwood and general saint"talk about run"bw"healing in the balm yard"in fact i rate thier "2 bad dj"lp a lot"cant take another world war"being a particular fave9. Lee Scratch Perry - Roast Fish, Collie Weed & Cornbread
