Top stand up comics?

Bill Bailey is a living legend- I saw him on the Part Troll tour and I've not seen anything funnier :D

Dylan Moran's pretty good, if a bit weird at times. Ross Noble was good live and I wish I'd been able to see Bill Hicks live. I saw Will Smith (no, not that one) in Edinburgh a couple of years ago, he was pretty good if a little too pedestrian.

Billy Connelly was very good, I think being a multi-millionaire with his own castle, lovely wife and children and holiday home in LA has taken the edge off him a bit.

Haven't seen her but Sarah Silverman seems pretty funny from what I've read.

Her bit in The Aristocrats was brilliant.

Dave Gorman is mesmerising live, but for some reason it doesn't come across the same on TV.

Eddie Izzard isn't so great. He's funny, he's clever funny but having watched a few of his performances its lots of chuckles rather than loads of laughs.

Totally forgotten about Jack Dee.

Am I the only one who does not find anything that Peter Kay has done not the least bit funny?

I really don't get it in the same way I don't get why everyone like lord of the rings. How can something I think is so shit be adored by everybody else in the world.
I don't like Lord of the fucking Rings either. You're probably not the only who doesn't like Peter Kay.

I'm a fan of a lot of people mentioned but one who hasn't and deserves it is Mitch Hedberg. Very interesting delivery and some great one-liners, kind of in a similar vein to Steven Wright but with a stoner slant.

Don't think Chris Rock has been mentioned yet. He's pretty damn funny when he'e on good form. Also like Ross Noble, Joan Rivers, Bill Hicks, Ken Dodd, Frankie Howerd

Agreed on Chris Rock - Never Scared is one of the funniest pieces of stand-up Ive seen in a long time (even edging the great Bill Hicks in my view)

Sublime stuff.

Richard Pryor (the greatest stand-up, no one else has had the life to have the material he had)
Bill Hicks (though I wish he'd write some more material):p
Chris Rock
Emo Philips (back in the day)
Dave Chappelle
Robin Williams (when he used to be a cokehead - he's pretty shit now)
Sean Locke cracks me up but I've never seen any standup by him.
I keep trying with Mitch Hedberg but I just can't get him - too paranoid on stage, jerking around like a Geordie with tourettes, a couple of gems in there though.

Eddie Murphy's standup is fucking hilarious if you're 14 or 15.

Forgot to mention Pablo Francisco. He's done one of THE funniest stand up shows I have ever seen. Most of his other stuff is utter cack. CF will back me up on this I think.
