Top Gear series 13.

That Ferrari FXX which blitzed the TG lap record - surely if it's only delivered to race tracks for its owners to play with, then taken back to Ferrari for them to keep it safe, would it not qualify as a proper road car? They usually use the 'speedhump' test but in the case of the FXX, it's never going to be on the road is it?

Who cares? It was a lap of awesomeness, topped off with magnificence and a side order to WOOAH!

Looking forward to the Veyron Vs Maclaren F1 race later in the series....

Unlike a lot of Top Gear stuff I don't think that was set up, actually.

Okay so the train's time is supposedly fixed by its schedule, but steam engines on the main line are late as often as not thanks to mechanical difficulties, having to run on slow lines and getting stuck behind slow services, and so on. Both of those nearly happened to Tornado during the run. Meanwhile, London to Edinburgh is about 400 miles, which in eight hours is an average speed of about 50mph. That's not bad going for a sixty year old car on a busy, sometimes single-carriageway, road with a 70mph speed limit. And it could have broken down, of course.

I reckon the 'race' was genuine enough - although of course modern conditions give the car the advantage because sixty years ago the A1 was mostly single-carriageway and the train could run non-stop (they had troughs on the rails where the engine could take water at speed) and without the 75mph limit. In the 50s they used to do London to Edinburgh in six and a half hours.

It was great entertainment either way. Clarkson's enthusiasm for Tornado was amusing as well.

Thought it was OK, the highlights being Clarkson's Skoda Catholic Church joke which made me LOL! & the sound of the FXX.

Looking forward to the F1 v Veyron challenge. :)

I don't know why I found the dog challenge so funny on the last show.

That St Bernard was well keen to get in the back of that IQ but couldn't lol. Whilst the other dogs were like do we have to?
