Top 3 tracks of this decade.

maybe i was making a comment on the meaningless of the exercise or maybe i was just being wacky or something, i forget what i was thinking at the time. i do like both those songs though.

I'm just no good at getting these internet jokes.

I am however like yourself a very late comer to Major Lazer, after thinking it was a really cool new discovery I had just made. .

it was just a normal joke not an internet joke.
i got the picture disc of that major lazer record now, it really looks cool

by the time I get home, i'd undoubtedly change my mind again, but, for now....

Shellac - Prayer to God
SFA - Show Your Hands
Drive By Truckers - Let There be Rock

1. Queens Of The Stone Age - Feel Good Hit Of The Summer
2. Radiohead - Pyramid Song
3. Kylie Minogue - Can't Get You Out Of My Head

All at the beginning of the decade. There's not much around now that I like tbh.

God knows ... my top 3 tracks right now are:

1. Jeffrey Lewis - Whistle Past The Grave Yard
2. Drumsound and Simon 'Bassline' Smith - Mafia VIP
3. Organized Konfusion - Stress

The Killers - Mr Brightside
Scissor Sisters - filthy/gorgeous
Johnny Boy - You were the generation that bought more shoes

I'm not sure I can say they're my top three, but the following sum up the decade from my perspective;

Missy Elliott - "Get UR Freak On"
Girls Aloud - "No Good Advice"
Squarepusher - "My Red Hot Car"

I think what's key to these three is that they opened my young ears to whole new subgenres.

As this decade is nearly over, What are your favourite tracks from it?

Off the top of my head I think:

1) White Stripes - 7 Nation Army
2) David Byrne and Xpress2 - Lazy
3) Garbriella Cilme - Sweet about Me.
Jarvis Cocker agrees with me about 7 Nation Army.

Havnt we done this already? I have anyway

Elephant Man - BadMan Forward Badman Pull up! (Global Riddim)
All-time fav bashment track! So glad I stumbled over this... One I come back to when I need a pick me up. Put a smile on my face many a time.

Sun People - Alpha Omega (Nubian Mindz Remix)
-Absolutely killer new-school, i guess broken beat, track. Ground breaking and ahead of its time.

Marcus Intalex & ST Files
Dreamworld:

Right now, off the top of my head I'd pick:
Booka shade - night falls

Louis Austen - Hoping

Modest Mouse - float on

These are juse a few bigtime faves for me. If it was about capturing the times then I can think of plenty more and a lot are more mainstream. Like:
Who's afraid of detroit, The rat (the walkmen), Night (benga and coki), Midnight Request Line, Wake up (arcade fire), Everything in it's right place, Young Folks...

Better stop, I could go on forever...

just three?

johnny boy: You Are The Generation That Bought More Shoes And You Get What You Deserve

Skream: Midnight Request Line

and there has been far too many good tracks to pick the final track...

Pop vote: Madonna - Hung Up/Kylie - Love at First Sight/Madonna - Get Together
Indie vote: Killers - Mr Brightside/Franz Ferdinand - Take Me Out/2 Razorlight songs which I'm scared to mention
House vote: Octave One - Blackwater/Angie Stone - Wish I Didn't Miss You (Pound Boys Stoneface Bootleg mix)/Paul Woolford - Erotic Discourse

Octave One - Blackwater
For some reason, in my head I remember hearing that loads in the 90s, but I checked and you're right; it was released in 2000.

Absolutely awesome tune. Tho' I prefer the string instrumental version to the vocal one.
Wow, that's 8 minutes and 26 seconds I'll never get back :(
To be fair I listened to your choices and now I've lost almost 7 minutes of my life listening to your Elbow and Dionysos tunes, so we're almost even :p

I find petty arguments over differing tastes in music boring, so I'm gonna be positive: I thought I'd hate the SFA tune you posted, but it's quite good :)

Something for everyone in there isn't there?

e2a: And I'm changing one of my picks anyway. Oh wait, I can't edit my original post any more :(

I started working this out got down to about 30 tarcks and gave up.

The King blues- music man would be in there fuck knows about the rest.
