Too Many Cyclists!

In fairness, you don't know if they're fairweather or just a beginner. The more cyclists the better, so I'd never take the piss out anyone. Unless they're pompous and spluttery.
I'd agree with that - I save my impotent and self-righteous indignation for the internet

True. I step off my pedestal, I was getting dizzy anyway.

I think noob cyclists are doing a great job. Normaly you'll get motorists seeing all these "cyclists" and don't indentify with them. When you see some 18 stoner wobbling all over the road and giving it go it's an advertisement to everyone to give it a go because I think people do worry, especially if they are not fit, that they may look stupid. Remember that if these said noobs keep it up they will eventually end up like the elitest shitheads that alot of cyclists have traditionally been :)

You don't like being overtaken, do you Cloud? :D

hehe it's not that but yes it does happen quite a bit :D

nah I've lost MTB friends to fitness addiction and nazi like body perfection issues.

I noticed this today as well. I was trying to turn right into my road at work, and there is normally nothing behind me - I looked around and there were half a dozen of them all riding all over the road, and I had to leave it really late and almost missed the turning.

Then on the way home a girl overtook me because I was waiting at the red light, and she went straight through, so I got really competitive and had to make sure I caught up with her and overtook her.

I'm so sad :o

I hate getting caught in a (whatever the collective is for cyclists) of Cyclists, but I think it is good to see more on the road. I cycle past static 4x4s back from the school run thornton heath, then past teh static traffic of streatham. It clears as I go up kings avenue until I get to the top and clapham where it is static until the other side of Vaxhall.

If we all got on our bikes it would of course be a dream. Sadly everyone at work is shocked to hear I cycle 45 minutes from Croydon to London every day but do not think a two hour drive is out of the question.

It is known as a "wobble" of cyclists.

And the reflective things are to give car drivers something to aim at

Bye

Edit to ad a big :D :D :D :D

So you KNOW I AM JOKING

Christ, don't knock people for wearing reflective gear - definitely not a sign of a fairweather cyclist, more like a smart cyclist.

I wasn't knocking the reflectives, but the fact that it was all so shiny new made it obvious he was a newbie.

Yeah, but WHAT ARE THEY FOR? :D

They're so that you can be spotted indicating I reckon

anyways, you're all shit cyclists unless you've got a full sus bike with skinny wheels, the ipod on phat and a beer in your hand

Right firstly I don't cycle to work I use a motorbike but I do like to cycle and if I was within 10 miles of work i would cycle it daily. When I was in said distance I did and personally Im glad that some many are giving it a go and trying to take it up rather than being fixed on shite itermittent buses and crap dirty tube lines. its one of those things if more cyclists take up the road traffic then there is less traffic density on the run making it safer in turn to cycle and indirectly less cars on the road leads to clearer road for buses to make progress etc.
Its all interlinked.
Okay, can most car drivers please not pull into cycle lanes at the top then slowly edge forward OVER the solid white line and accelerate ....for that 100 metres to the next lights. I include other motorcyclists in this equation.
I do think the offer of free cycling instruction by many councils is a good thing but also hoped that some sort of cycling sense or profficency would be added for free also to improve standards.
Make one thing clear a knob on a bicycle is a knob in a car or on a motorcycle.
If you ride like a knob on a motorcycle you will eventually come out worse, as you will when you ride a bicycle. So for the consentious car driver if you note a "crappy" atitude cyclists or biker just remember that under the law of averages they will remove themselves from the road...just don't react and get all angry and be that contribution cut up or not, like it or not they really do have as much right to be on the road and if enough people take it up you don't have to worry about charlotte or tarquin cycling to school, they wont be talking to strangers ...on the bus and you can save some petrol...right
:D ;)

Too many cars! Too many of them driven by people who seem to think that cyclists are an annoying inconvenience or who simply drive like complete twats.

Yes, I drive as well, as part of my job - though don't own a car.

why would a want a full sus bike with or with out skinny wheels or the road
seen a few lads with full on trials bikes riding them does'nt look cool on the flat :D

I get all bothered again this morning cos there was a bloke on his mobile phone wobbling all over the place - what an enormous div!

I was stopped at a red light this morning (on me bike) quite close to the kerb but not too close that a complete berk on a bicycle undertook me as I was pulling off I nearly knocked him off! He then had the audacity to turn round and give me the wanker gesture which put him into a wobble and he nearly hit the car in front. I like that kinda Karma!

because you're being an elitist cock. fuck's sake. people cycling is good! you should be encouraging people not taking the piss out of them. who cares whether they come up to your exacting standards of regularity, speed and dress?

sorry mate but it makes me mad. cyclists should stick together.

I also never made any comments about people's dress - that was others.
I just made one comment about safety and a silly one about a bloke on the phone. Read the thread!

Too fucking right, comrade. When the cyclists are united we will never be divided. Power to the pedallers!!!:)

This happens to me every single day. Many blokes really hate being overtaken by a girl - if I overtake a bloke - guaranteed about 2 seconds after I do, I'll hear him change gears and start huffing and puffing and then next thing he's standing on his pedals giving it his all furiously pedalling past - at which point I go into cruise and just sail past him - quite nonchanantly..... :D [bad gaijingirl] It is especially fun when I'm on a really good road bike and some bloke on a fat wheeled mountain bike gets the bit between his teeth.... :D It's amazing how competitive it gets out there!!

As for all the other stuff - all cyclists, fast or slow are a GOOD THING I think.

BTW - I got a letter from parliament yesterday saying they had changed the wording over that "cyclists must use cycle lanes" rubbish...
