Tonight's Later... With Jools Holland.

I just hope Richard Hawley gets another booking and this time is given more than one song to sing.

Edit: Dresden Dolls were great last night.

I was really please that Keane weren't on....

Jools said something about one of them having food poisoning, I would like to offer my compliments to their chef:)

Best edition of Later in ages imo, the Dresden Dolls were fantastic as expected. Gorgo Bordello were mad in a good way and The Automatic were surprisingly good.

*bump*

Tonight is the last of the current series, and features...

Raul Midón

Plan B

The Strokes

Cat Power  :)

The Flaming Lips

My impressions of tonights show -

The Flaming Lips - meh

The Strokes - shite

Cat Power - lovely lovely stuff

Divine Comedy - boooooooo, get off, fucking rubbish

Plan B - excellent, joint first with Cat Power

Raul Midon - pretty good but not my cuppa tea

Raul Midón ~ Very impressive, but not really my thing.

Plan B ~ Good stuff. Nice bit of singing in there too. I think I've now liked pretty much everything I've heard by him.

The Strokes ~ I've never liked 'em, so I switched over every time they were on. (-Did they get to do three songs?)

The Flaming Lips ~ Not been very keen on their latest album, but I like the two singles they played. Wayne Coyne's got such an infectiously positive attitude.

The Divine Comedy ~ Neil Hannon can sometimes be a bit too smug for my liking, but I thought they were good on this. He's never quite up there with Jarvis, but I think his lyrics are witty and full of dark humour, he's a sharp dresser, and he employs a mean banjo.

Cat Power ~ Just excellent. I could've listened to her all night. (-Kicking myself now for not getting to see her play earlier in the week. She cancelled a show back in January, then rescheduled it for this week, but this time she was on form and it was me that had to cancel for health reasons!)

I've not watched much of this series, but some people seem to think it's been a bit below par. Apart from The Strokes, I thought this was a real good 'un to finish the series with.

:)

The Flaming Lips - Wicked as usual 7.5/10

The Strokes - Get some new tunes! 4/10

Cat Power - Nice but didn't set my arse on fire 6/10

Divine Comedy - Nice to see him back, not that inspiring though 6/10

Plan B - Loved it, must get the album 9/10

Raul Midon - That dude can play the guitar. Amazing 9/10

Word
