Tonbridge Angels v Dulwich Hamlet, 3rd September 2022

I only asked because some clubs get it badly wrong with poorly trained and inexperienced stewards. SIA badged should be better but you run the danger of employing stewards who think they're running a nightclub door, not managing a crowd. It's a definite skill, I think that whoever Maidstone use are a fine example of how to do it right. Sadly it looks like Tonbridge Angels have it wrong
It's not about getting it wrong or failing to manage a crowd, what happened really wasn't that big a deal at all.

No it’s not a direct quite. I think the point is valid though. We can all be annoyed that the massive increase in home support has brought in a fair few knobheads, we can feel nostalgic for what it was like 8 or 10 years ago, we can feel pissed off with aspects of how the club is run. I share all of those sentiments.
I think, though, that can shade into a blanket negativity that blanks out all the good stuff still going on. Our support yesterday was as noisy and fun as any away match I can remember, despite the dire footballing performance (I’ve been going with varying levels of consistency since 2012/13).
There’s a decent number of relatively new fans who sing and sing and sing. And I think throwaway remarks about ‘our current supporters’ can sound a little bit wankerish, even if I’m sure they weren’t intended to do so.

Spot on.

Our away support is the best thing about the club right now, so to read a lot of negativity (about more than just the quality of football) in an away matchthread is disappointing. There's a time and a place to have a pop at our "current supporters" but this ain't it.

Yesterday was incredibly enjoyable despite the fact we're playing like we belong in the Isthmian. Full credit to our fans yesterday. Looking forward to Cheshunt.

Part of being a fan is the shared burden of sticking with it through the rough times. All the current shit is a part of club history, which you'll enjoy discussing in the pub in another 10 years.

In all fairness I saw a few Dulwich guys around Tonbridge yesterday enjoying themselves, at the food market, having a walk and so on. One nob who appeared to have drunk too much isn’t worth all the commentary. The club has a good following. There’s an article in today’s non league paper with the Spennymoor chairman complaining about a rise in poor behaviour across non league which is sad.

On the game, someone said above that Tonbridge are usually a lowly side at this level. I am quietly confident of a higher fnish than that- maybe even breaking into 9th / 10th if these injuries clear. Even with several out Gard, Addy & Collins really caught the eye.

Just saw Mills interview on YouTube. Apparently we expect to be in the top 7. Not sure why we never have been. Apparently the team spoke about the poor performance in the first half, they then proceeded to perform like that in the second half. We have a weeks training to put it right. God only knows what happened in the previous 6. He apologised to the supporters, fair enough. You’ve got a week
