Tomato cores - who eats these??

Is there such a thing as a tomato core? Who the hell cores tomatoes?

Oh crapping hell! Not your fault AS but guys guys!

There is blatantly such a thing as a tomato core whether you have eaten one or not.
Even a perfectly ripe cherry tomato has one albeit very edible. The bigger and less ripe a tomato is, the more troubling to eat (for some).

As the OP was talking about, pre packaged sandwiches and sometimes salads use big under ripe tomatoes and the core is yuk!

This thread is excellent, best thing I've read all week.Tomato cores. Hehehe. Superb work. Heh.

I might remove seeds from a tomato if Im going to cook with it, but removing a core, from a tomato thats going to go in a sandwich- that's fucking crazy imho.

The problem here is that some people cleary don't have the discerning palates of others.

You serve a bit of tomato core in a sandwich in the Ritz's afternoon tea and you'd be out on your ear faster than you can say 'what a precious wanker of a chef'

Dunno about soulfulofsoul but as a fellow tomato core-hater, I find the ones in strawberries just as bad. They have to come out.

Like duh. You don't really core strawberries, but you certainly hull them.

(that's pretty much essential in my book, but you only take as little of the top off as possible, not remove the middle throughout the strawberry)

Nah, there's more to it to it that that. There's definitely a harder, less tasty bit on strawberries too. I can live with it, but they're definitely there.

Fucking fruit eh
