I recently rediscovered a favourite food from the past and to my joy they taste just as good now as I remember they did back then.

Findus crispy pancakes.

We should form a club - Crispy pancakes are quite possibly the greatest artificial food ever made...do you like yours fully crisped or a little soggy?

I think I might have to go and buy one and have it over xmas :D

Enjoy! I usually do one after a walk out/in the country. The thought of pie/mash/peas and gravy and a mug of tea keeps me going in the cold.

My dad worked at Findus so I practically lived on crispy pancakes as a teenager. And French Bread Pizzas :D They were the fucking height of sophistication when they came out.

My dad didn't work at Findus and I still practically lived on crispy pancakes as a teenager.:p

Has anyone else had one recently?

I only noticed them in the supermarket freezer about a month ago and I wasn't sure if they had been re-launched or I just hadn't noticed them in all the years I have been buying my own food.

I used to fry mine in lard until they were nicely browned so I guess I'm a fully crispy guy.

Now I fry them in olive oil because I'm a sophisticated crispy pancake eater these days.

They still sell them in tesco. IIRC last time I posted about them, I had half a dozen food-snobs on my case.

Fully crispy!

They were awfully salty though.

They were *exotic*...

I used to be dead jealous of friends who had things like French Bread Pizzas and Soda Streams when I was a nipper :o

The other kids in the village used to think we were posh because my Mum was English and she used to make things like Spag Bol and Chilli Con Carne :D

French bread pizzas I used to eat bucketloads of though! That special formulation of cheese and tomato sauce that, when you take a bite, makes a blanket of cheese-based plasma attach itself to your lower lip  :D

Yeah, and no pansy 'Product will be hot' warnings on them either - back in the days it was assumed you'd KNOW that something that had just come from the oven would be hot...

:D :D I burnt the roof of my mouth every time without fail on the first bite of French Bread Pizza.

I thought that my friend had an actual stream of fizzy pop at the back of her house when I was first given a drink from "the soda stream" awwwwww

I pestered my mum for *ages* for one of those, then my next door neighbour got one and I decided they were shite.

The Coke always tasted funny. A mate of mine had one and he'd do 'How much gas can I put in each one' in the summer holidays. He went through a cannister in two days so he's dad hid the 'Stream in the shed :(

Their Cream Soda was nice though.

Cornettos were exotic back then as well.....

I remember them as a real treat on a day out.

Do you remember Butter Scotch Instant Whip? I tried some again a couple of years back and really enjoyed it. It's a guilty pleasure now and again ;)

You'll really enjoy it. Despite being chemical crap it is better than you remember. You burn off calories whipping it and tapping your fingers while it sets and it's made with milk so it can't be all bad!
