Tips to stop one falling asleep @ work

Is your afternoon not as busy as your morning zenie? maybe shift some of your workload to the afternoon so you keep focused.

Kanda, we've had major problems with both our BES and mail servers, maybe there'e something in the air.

Well yeah, they usually both go hand in hand. I didn't even realise BES was down till 10am this morning :D

Can you find a quiet storeroom or something and have a brief nap.

I'm lucky as I can get away with the odd nap at work, at lunch.

We had a shower room that no-one ever uses and we have a few teddy bears lying around that I can use as pillows.

Also, I have a massive chair at my desk which no-one can see me in from behind so I shut the office door, turn the chair round, feet up and nod off (note, book in hand is a good way of looking busy).

Failing that, wet your fingers and rub the moisture on your eyelids!

I only really get tired in work if I've been on a rather large one at the w/end. then it's the sofas during the week

Blimey!

I'd be wide awake again by 2am if I did that....
Normal time we go to bed is 10, and I sleep like a log, a loud log, but a log all the same. dunno why.... maybe it's the big heart I carry around all day tires me out.

Apart from the obvious like getting enough sleep, not being too warm and having enough fresh air or activity...
I'd suggest caffeine if you can tolerate it without it raising your blood pressure too much or doing something equally nasty to you.

No need to buy IMHO overpriced caffeine tablets - double or triple strength (or stronger if you don't mind the taste) tea or coffee will do more or less the same if drunk little & often during the day. Guarana will also have the same effect (a natural source of caffeine) but it's more expensive than coffee.

"Party on" temple balm also contains caffeine - I've found that a smearing of it's enough to stop a caffeine withdrawal headache dead, so the caffeine definitely gets into the bloodstream.

Basil essential oil is good for clarity and avoiding sleep. You can either sniff a couple of drops on a tissue, or you can add the drops to a cup of hot water, or you can dilute 2 drops in a teaspoon of something like sunflower or almond oil and rub that behind your ears, the back of your neck, and the inside of your wrists.

I tend to have one night in the week where I get little sleep but for 4 nights out of 5 I am in bed by 10pm and sleep through to 6am which is good :)

Weekends are not quite so structured though :)

I was going to sleep last night and a giant removal lorry from manchester appeared outside my house and left its engine on for 1/2 hour.. and turned it off just as I was about to go over the road and tell them off.. diodnt get to sleep for ages after that.. As a result im knackered

Soup

Eat soup at lunch rather than a big fat sandwich. Should not get that sense of "my god i want to sleep" at about 2-3pm
