red rose said:I love watching him on Pimp My Ride (my brothers got me into this) He says stuff like 'macked out' and 'bling-ed up' and it sounds about as cool as if my dad said that.
rednblack said:i remember the first time i heard his show on the bbc ('95 i think) i couldnt believe it, took me a couple of shows to realise he wasnt taking the piss
he is a wanker, he has done a lot for rap in this country, but i'm sure there's others who could do a lot better
surely you mean "rinse joints"jrj2020 said:Also he doesnt mix tunes, he just queues them up to play when one finishes - CRAP!

ChrisFilter said:All the proper hip hop fans I know completely respect his knowledge of hip hop, and the amount of effort he puts into what he does.
They also all agree that he's a prick.

He was still claiming to be 27 when he was 45, so I've heard. Despite the fact that he started broadcasting in about 1982. How sad?Sunspots said:Well, he is nudging 50...

According to Wikipedia, he was born in 1958.

Well, exactly.Sunspots said:It shouldn't really matter how old somebody is, but he obviously seems to have felt that he had to keep quiet about it.

Dubversion said:even when he got shot, he tried to get real mileage out of it, boost his image and ego related to how fucking real he was.
in the end, turns out they were after his driver.
i don't dispute that he champions hip hop in this country, but anybody who thinks it wouldn't have happened without him is mental. Hip Hop is the most successful music genre in the world, has been for a decade probably. do you really think the UK would have resisted it without Westwood saying 'aiight' and coming out with some really dodgy homophobic shit on his shows?
Harold Hill said:I don't listen to his show so is the homophobic stuff his words or the records?

Dubversion said:nor me, but i'm reliably informed he used to pretend to out rappers considered a bit 'light on their feet'. i'll google..![]()

His knowledge of his favoured genre and his workrate are second to none.
