Three to go down?

west brom have played some 'nice stuff' and are shite

stoke have been reviled for their style and look like staying up with ease

I know where I'd rather be tbh. style is nothing if there's no substance, people should stop giving Mowbray an easy ride

Well ive watched a few of their games on the tv and they have been poor, ok they always seem to have a lot of the ball but they do nothing with it. Defensively they are shocking, especially with "Frank" Carson in goal....and upfront they have nothing since Philips went to Blues.

I had this thought as I was watching newcastle today, Imagine, It's the last day of the season and they need to win, Shearer brings himself out of retirement to lead from the front, he gets a goal, but results else where don't go their way and they still go down, I'd wet myself. :D

I feel sorry for Gareth Southgate though, he's had to sell some really good players like Boateng, Swartzer, Woodgate and Yakubu and what he's got left just isn't good enough.

isnt yakubu the only one he sold out of those? The rest just got pissed off and left and woodgate was only ever there on loan.

He did take the Yak money (and some more, iirc) and spend it on Alfonso "Cows Arse, Banjo" Alves though.

We had Woodgate perm, got £8 million when we sold him to Spurs. To be fair, we have plenty of central defenders, he was always injured and there was some talk of a falling out.
We've had huge cost cutting measures but he's had big money to spend and he's bought badly - Alves (£13 million), Enmes (who - £3 million), Hoyte to replace Luke Young.
Our problems are that we have can't score, concede too many and employ a manager who's taken us from the Uefa Cup final to relegation in 3 seasons!

Has he finally got his coaching badges? Not that it makes you any better at buying players...maybe he thought he was getting Dani Alves from Sevilla?

when he signed alves had scored something ridiculous, albeit in the dutch league and was a brazilian international.

I would love it if Newcastle got relegated....f*cking love it, Shearer crying his eyes out, fat Geordies blubbing....brilliant:D

So had Meteja Kezman....which kinda proves my point. Boro were robbed of £13m.

Exactly. The Yak was, whatever his faults, at least a proven goalscorer in the Premier League between the months of August and January, and they sold him to us for less than they paid for someone who was neither of those things.

In fact if you look at the players who have gone for less money since who were proven goalscorers in the UK - Bellendamy, Crouch, Defoe (twice) for instance - the deal looks even worse, though of course it could just be that Southgate is an awful manager and that Alves will move somewhere else and suddenly be not shit, like what happened to the one-goal-misfit Jo after he escaped from Citeh.

Brom, Boro and Blackburn.

Newcastle will survive I'm sure but will go down next year following a succsession of fan appeasing mangerial appointments go horribly wrong, with Darren Peacock, Phillipe Albert and Gazza all taking over the reigns at some point and the team losing every single game.

i think pavel would be a good manager:cool:

yeah, on the net

not that it'll matter much :(

When I first went to China, there were five matches a weekend on local telly, so I could sit idly in the armchair all saturday night watching them.

Then for the final year, it got moved to some obscure channel that I couldn't work out how to get (Win TV).

I think that was the factor that made me move back to Britain

i still haven't worked out my telly yet tbh

i think the football must be on cable tho cos it isn't on any of the CCTV chanels

well as much fun as the earlier part of the season was, it's really looking like we're off straight back down again :D (as it's what I expected) but also :( cos I really wanted us to stay

I doubt Shearer will weep but the rest if it would be worth waiting for. However, although I'm in the UK that weekend I shall annoyingly be on a train all day and may therefore miss it.

What's the difference between Alan Shearer and Newcastle United?

Shearer will still be on Match of the Day next season

Yeah I think in the end about one match every weekend got shifted to a local cable channel as relatively few people were able to access the WIN channel and people moaned.

There's a hierarchy of television in China: Just CCTV (means you're really on the sticks), cable but no foreign channels (which is what I had, 900 different local stations all showing the same things in different orders, sometimes even pirate films :D, and occasionally football) and the lucky people with satellite who are able to get HBO and the like.

CCTV5 has fuck all football apart from internationals - if you're still there in 2010 the world cup will all be on that...

As long as Newcaslte go down I'm not fussed. You just couldn't run a club worse if you tried.

Yeah, you could, you could spend a season playing decent stuff under your best manager in years (who you'll later sack after a couple of games in the following season), be on the verge of breaking the big 4 monopoly on the champions league places, and then inexplicably allow your players, on the eve of such a big, make-or-break, game, to get food poisoning.

FFS If I was running a club, I would make damned well sure that such a shambles never took place. You'd have thought they'd have checked every little detail of that last game of the season, but they allowed that to happen. Hilarious.
