Three Cheers for Ray Mears

Old Ray said that the leader (one of the brothers) ended up a cab driver in New York, with practically no recognition for what he had done (IIRC).

He was offered the post to be commander in chief of the Israeli army in 1950 - it was his descision to go to New York and drive a cab for the rest of his life

Watch most of his stuff and invariably thin at some point that he needs to stay in more. Would be good on I'm a celebraty though

Do you remember the guy's name?

I think i might write an article on that...

Hmm - bit of a dillema here but on the subject of Mr M : my husband did some work for someone who worked with him on one of his series who says all isn't as it seems on the show. She said he's a lazy bastard and she really dislikes him  :)

What does the sound of shattered illusions sound like?

I still think he's ace though

I get the feeling that Ray doesn't really like having camera crews around. You can tell that he'd much rather be on his own, watching the world and the animals go by...

Looks like a good show on BBC4 tonight "How the Wild West was won"

"Ray Mears looks at how the landscapes of America's three great mountain ranges - the Appalachians, the Rockies and the Sierra Nevada - challenged the westward push of the early pioneers."

Like Ray - like his style - much more preferable to that knobby Grylls.

Yay for Ray!

Well I enjoyed that, hopefully the other two episodes will be more of the same
