The way I see it...

If the ladies team was making £400k a season then Charlton are wrong to cut them. Anyone know if they are making money or if the £360k costs are just pouring money down the drain to charitably support a minority sport?

When you are successful you can afford to be charitable.
When you are not you can't.

Ladies teams don't make money, it's about how great a subsidy you're prepared to put in. But then the mens teams don't make money either - in this country it all goes back into wages and transfers.

Best you can hope for is the asset/club itself appreicates during your control, whether on the stock market or otherwise.

Yeah but men's teams don't make next to zero income.
They at least offest a large part of their costs with income.
